Water emulsion corrodes what oil protected

Mineral oil leaves a film that quietly protects steel from the inside. A high-water-content emulsion does not, so every internal surface it touches has to resist corrosion on its own account, and any component specified for oil service will begin rusting where nobody can see it. Fitting materials, plating and seal compounds all have to suit the fluid rather than merely the pressure, and pressures on roof supports are high enough that a corroded fitting fails suddenly. If a circuit runs on emulsion, say so at the enquiry — it is the first fact we need, not a detail.
