Sealing an ORB port

An ORB port seals on an O-ring compressed under the hex, so the thread carries no sealant. Adjustable elbows and tees have a locknut, so the branch can be set to any angle before the O-ring is clamped. Fit a new O-ring whenever the joint is remade.

SAE J1926 and SAE J514

The O-ring boss port is defined by SAE J1926 (ISO 11926); it shares its threads with the 37° JIC flare of SAE J514. Pipe-thread ends are NPTF to ASME B1.20.3.
