Why face seal

An ORFS joint seals on an O-ring held in a groove on the male face, pressed flat against the female face. It tolerates vibration and resists over-tightening better than a metal-to-metal seat, which is why mobile and offshore hydraulics specify it.

SAE J1453 and ISO 8434-3

The O-ring face seal connection is defined by SAE J1453 and ISO 8434-3. Replace the O-ring each time the joint is broken.
