Supplying the United Kingdom, in detail

Should a UK maintenance team order standard hydraulic hose from Dubai?

No. For a standard item on a short lead time, a UK distributor will beat a sea lane of 24 to 30 days every time, and we would rather say so. Our cargo comes to the UK for North Sea work specified to a material grade with traceable documentation, decommissioning campaigns, and items where a specification names something not held domestically — enquiries where the documentation decides the order rather than the delivery date.

Which mark does a pressure hose assembly need for Great Britain versus Northern Ireland?

A UKCA declaration for goods placed on the market in Great Britain, and a CE declaration where the goods move into Northern Ireland. A hose assembly above the pressure threshold needs the relevant declaration travelling with it, issued by us as the assembler before dispatch. The two are not interchangeable and a wrong mark is a rejected consignment, so we settle it by destination, not by who is buying.

Can a consignment landed at Rotterdam or Antwerp continue to a UK site without a new declaration?

No. The UK clears on its own entry rather than the European Union’s, so goods arriving from a European port are not in free circulation here, and a UK customs import declaration is made in its own right through HMRC. A consignment split between a British and a continental site is two files, not one, and we say so at quotation rather than at the quay.

Do you give a UK REACH position on hose compounds, or the EU one?

The UK one, for UK-bound goods. UK REACH and EU REACH have diverged in places, so we state the UK REACH position on the elastomer compounds at quotation rather than assuming the European position carries across. Where an order is split between UK and EU sites, each portion carries the position for its own regime.

How do goods landed at Felixstowe reach an Aberdeen or Peterhead supply base?

By road, on DAP terms to the supply base. It is a long domestic leg from Felixstowe, or from Southampton or London Gateway, and it is priced with the order rather than estimated. For an offshore campaign we work back from the mobilisation date, so the sea transit of 24 to 30 days plus the road leg lands before the vessel sails rather than after.

Felixstowe, Southampton or London Gateway — which port suits a UK delivery?

Felixstowe is our default and the port we quote CIF, typically 24 to 30 days by FCL from Jebel Ali through Suez. Southampton suits the south and west; London Gateway is used where the inland leg to the site is shorter. LCL runs 30 to 38 days consolidated via a European hub, still entering on a UK declaration. Name the delivery postcode and we choose the port.

What material documentation comes with North Sea specification orders?

Material and test certificates from the mill or our test bench, with NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 sour-service documentation and traceability where the contract requires it. The certificate set is confirmed at quotation, not produced afterwards, so it matches the data book the operator or contractor expects. Tell us the specification and the documentation list together and we quote against both.

Do you supply hydraulics for North Sea decommissioning campaigns?

Yes — hose, fittings, valves and assemblies for cutting, lifting and recovery tooling. Decommissioning puts loads through equipment that installation never did, often on plant past its design life, and tooling is used hard for a short campaign. That favours short-life consumables and a right-first-time specification over a spares holding nobody draws down. Tell us the tool rather than the vessel.

Does flying a part into Heathrow change the UKCA or certificate paperwork?

No — the UKCA or CE declaration and the material certificates travel with an air consignment exactly as with a sea one, so urgency never shortcuts the documentation. Air freight from Dubai to London Heathrow (LHR) takes 2 to 4 days against 24 to 30 days by sea, and the onward road leg to Aberdeen is quoted with it. It is the route when a vessel, rig or line is waiting.

Can a North Sea contractor order wellhead, BOP and choke equipment on the same enquiry as hose?

Yes, to API 6A, 16A and 16C where the specification calls for it, with NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 documentation. We supply TechnipFMC, Cameron (SLB), SPM, Anson, Stream-Flo and WOM equipment, quoted against the operator’s or contractor’s data sheet. For North Sea work the useful enquiry names the pressure class, temperature and material class, the make if specified, and the required certificate set.

Do you supply hydraulics for offshore wind maintenance off the east coast?

Yes — hose, fittings and assemblies for pitch, yaw, crane and access-system hydraulics, quoted against the turbine maker’s or contractor’s specification. Offshore wind maintenance is planned in campaigns, which suits the sea lane to Felixstowe with a road leg to the O&M port, and air freight into Heathrow covers anything found during a campaign.

Do you supply layflat hose to the United Kingdom?

Yes. TPU layflat hose goes to UK contractors for over-pumping and water-main bypass, site dewatering and flood response, and to farms as slurry supply and drag hose for umbilical systems. Large-bore lines are supplied with grooved, flanged or Storz couplings and tractor-mounted reels. Hose ships from Dubai as bulk coils up to 400 m or as made-up assemblies with couplings fitted, with the size table and pressure rating for each bore.
