Supplying Bulgaria, in detail

Should goods for a Varna shipyard land at Varna even though most cargo uses Burgas?

Yes. Burgas serves the refinery belt and the south and takes most of our cargo, but Varna is the better gate for the north, the shipyards and the Danube corridor at Ruse. Both are typically 18–24 days by sea from Jebel Ali through Suez and the Bosphorus, and the importer makes one entry through Bulgarian Customs into free circulation at either port.

What should a Burgas refinery buyer send instead of a part number?

The medium, the temperature and the concentration. A compound that suits one hydrocarbon stream can be wrong for another at a different temperature, and at a refinery the failure is not a leak on a workshop floor. We issue a chemical compatibility statement for the named medium at quotation and say plainly where a compound is unsuitable, rather than supplying to bore and pressure and letting the plant discover it.

Is the PED declaration the same document as the chemical compatibility statement?

No — they answer different questions. The compatibility statement, issued by us at quotation per duty, says the compound suits your named medium. The declaration of conformity, issued by us as the assembler before dispatch, covers an assembly above the pressure-volume threshold in PED 2014/68/EU and travels with the goods. Below the threshold sound engineering practice applies and there is no mark, but the compatibility statement still applies.

Should we sleeve hose at the Pirdop smelter before it is due for change?

Yes — fit the sleeve before an incident rather than after. Around tilting furnaces and casting equipment the hazard is occasional contact with molten metal, which a standard cover does not resist. Silicone-coated fire sleeve does, chosen by the temperature and contact duration it must withstand. Tell us where each assembly runs and we supply it already sleeved, at Pirdop, the Plovdiv lead-zinc smelter or any furnace area.

Do the copper mines near Panagyurishte need different hose from the Pirdop smelter?

Yes — the hazards are different. At the open-pit mines the hose on shovels, haul trucks and crushers fails from abrasive dust, vibration and long duty hours, so it is specified dust-rated and high-cycle. At the smelter the hazard is occasional contact with molten metal, so the assembly is fire-sleeved. Tell us where each line runs and we quote the right construction for each site.

Is the Maritsa East complex near Stara Zagora supplied through Burgas?

Yes, normally. Burgas is the gate for the south, typically 18–24 days by sea from Jebel Ali, and on DAP terms the road leg to the Maritsa East mines around Radnevo and the power stations beside them is domestic movement priced with the order. Dust-rated hose for the mining fleet and governor and actuator hydraulics for the stations can travel on the same file.

Our refinery unit has changed its feed — do existing hose assemblies need re-specifying?

Possibly, and it is worth asking before the next change-out. A compound specified correctly for one hydrocarbon stream can be wrong for another at a different temperature or concentration. Send the new medium, temperature and concentration with the existing assembly data, and we issue a fresh chemical compatibility statement for the named medium, saying plainly if the current compound is no longer suitable.

Why can a small order to Sofia take longer than a full container to Burgas?

Because a small mixed order travels consolidated. An LCL shipment is transhipped in the Mediterranean and typically takes 24–32 days, against 18–24 days for a full container direct to Burgas. If an order is urgent, air freight into Sofia typically takes 2–4 days; if not, adding it to a larger consignment usually costs less than either.

Do Devnya soda-ash and fertiliser plants get a compatibility statement for slurry hose?

Yes — the statement is issued for the named medium, slurry included. Soda-ash, fertiliser and cement plant around Devnya moves abrasive slurries and powders as well as chemicals, so tell us the medium, solids content, temperature and concentration. We confirm the compound and lining at quotation for both chemical attack and abrasion, and Varna is the natural gate for these sites.

How does cargo reach a plant or vessel on the Danube at Ruse?

Through Varna and then by road. Varna is the gate for the north and the Danube corridor at Ruse, typically 18–24 days by sea from Jebel Ali, and on DAP terms the road leg to Ruse is domestic movement priced with the order. That covers vessel hydraulics for Danube craft as well as plant at Ruse; for a breakdown, air freight into Sofia typically takes 2–4 days.
