Supplying Cyprus, in detail

Is Limassol closer to Dubai by sea than most of North Africa?

In transit terms, yes. Full containers from Jebel Ali reach Limassol in typically 10–15 days, because nothing has to leave the Mediterranean after Suez, which makes Cyprus quicker than several of our North African lanes and our shortest route into the EU. Small mixed orders, consolidated with transhipment, take 16–24 days, so a full container is worth building where the order allows.

When does a consignment go to Larnaca instead of Limassol?

When a berth or a sailing at Larnaca suits the delivery better. Limassol is the default for almost everything, as the island’s container port and its ship management centre. Air freight from Dubai lands at Larnaca airport too, typically in 2–3 days, so an urgent item can be flown in while the rest of the order sails to Limassol.

Can you quote a complete spares set for an offshore campaign and take back what is not opened?

Yes. A drilling campaign is a fixed window with no practical resupply inside it, so the spares list should be built against what the equipment could need rather than what it probably will. We quote a campaign set on that basis, it ships before mobilisation, and we take back the unopened items afterwards. The return terms are agreed in the quotation, not after demobilisation.

Which specifications can you meet for offshore work in the Cyprus EEZ?

API-monogrammed assemblies, sour-service material documentation and flow-iron consumables, confirmed against the operator’s specification at quotation. We supply TechnipFMC, Cameron (SLB), SPM, Anson, Stream-Flo and WOM equipment, so wellhead, valve and flow-iron lines can sit on one quotation with the hydraulic hose. Name the API specification and any NACE MR0175 requirement on the enquiry so the certificates are priced in from the start.

Our Limassol-managed ships rarely call at Cyprus — how should their spares ship?

To your Limassol store, or onward on your forwarder’s booking, with the paperwork built for a ship rather than a plant. Each spare is bought against a class approval where the specification names one, so we confirm that at quotation, pack the certificate with the item and mark it to the vessel. When the part is fitted in another port months later, the surveyor sees the certificate with it.

If an assembly is below the PED threshold, what paperwork comes with it to Cyprus?

No CE mark, but not nothing. Below the pressure-volume threshold in PED 2014/68/EU, sound engineering practice applies and no declaration is issued; above it, our declaration of conformity travels with the goods. Every consignment carries a Dubai Chamber-attested Certificate of Origin, a manufacturer certificate of conformity is available on request, and any class approval is confirmed at quotation. The importer raises the EU entry through Cypriot Customs on arrival.

Can air freight into Larnaca catch a vessel leaving Limassol in two days?

Sometimes, and that is about the only case where it pays. Air from Dubai to Larnaca takes typically 2–3 days, against 10–15 days by sea to Limassol, so it is worth it for a single item a ship cannot sail without. For anything planned, the sea lane is short enough that air rarely repays the difference. Tell us the sailing time with the enquiry and we will say which works.

Do you supply the power stations at Vasilikos, Dhekelia and Moni?

Yes — actuator and governor hydraulics, hose assemblies, valves and fittings for thermal plant on an island grid, where a stopped unit has little margin. Cargo sails to Limassol and goes on by road on DAP terms, a short leg to each site. Send the equipment data plate or the original part numbers and we confirm the match at quotation rather than proposing an approximate equivalent.

Can spares for several managed vessels travel on one consignment, each marked separately?

Yes. A ship manager often has requisitions open for several ships at once, and one consignment to Limassol is cheaper than several. We pack and mark each vessel’s items separately, with their own certificates inside, and list them per vessel on the packing list, so your store can split the delivery without opening every box. Send the requisitions together and say which lines belong to which ship.

Do you supply crane and piling hydraulics for construction around Limassol and Nicosia?

Yes. Hose assemblies made up to length, fittings, adapters and cylinders for tower cranes, piling rigs, excavators and batching plant ship to Limassol and are delivered by road on DAP terms. Send the machine make and model, or the old assembly’s markings, and the fitting standard is matched in Dubai so the assembly fits on arrival rather than being reworked on site.
