Rebuild the assembly, not just the hose

When a hose fails on plant that has been in service for decades, the fitting it was crimped to has usually seen the same decades. Reusing it because it looks sound is how a repair fails again in a month, and the saving is trivial against the second intervention. A replacement assembly should be exactly that — new hose, new ferrules, new fittings, crimped and tested as a unit. Where an original fitting genuinely cannot be replaced because nothing current matches the port, that is worth knowing in advance, and it is usually solvable with an adapter.
