Supplying Bosnia and Herzegovina, in detail

Bosnia has a coastline — why does our cargo come through Ploče in Croatia?

Because the twenty kilometres of coast at Neum has no working container port. For freight the country is landlocked, and Ploče exists largely to serve it. Sea freight from Jebel Ali through Suez reaches Ploče, then travels by bonded road to the Bosnian entry at Bijača, typically 22–30 days from dispatch. We say so rather than implying a direct sea route that does not exist.

Does the Bosnian entry at Bijača use the same papers as the EU transit?

Yes — and it has to. The EU transit declaration and the Bosnian entry, lodged by the importer through the Indirect Taxation Authority, are both built from our invoice and packing list, so they agree line for line; if they differ, the truck stops at Bijača. With them travel the Dubai Chamber-attested Certificate of Origin, the bill of lading and any material and test certificates the specification calls for. There is no blanket pre-shipment conformity scheme for industrial hose and fittings.

Banja Luka is nearer Rijeka than Ploče — does that change the routing?

Often, yes. Sea to Rijeka and the road corridor to Banja Luka runs typically 24–32 days, against 22–30 through Ploče and Bijača, but the road leg to Banja Luka, Prijedor or Doboj is much shorter from the north. We compare both against the delivery town rather than defaulting to Ploče, and price the one that lands cheaper.

What should a Zenica mill tell you about a failed cylinder or servo valve?

The working temperature, the fluid and the cycle, as well as the part number. Those decide the seal and hose compound on steel and metal-processing duty, where high-force cylinders, servo valves and high-temperature assemblies work near heat. We supply all three for the Zenica steelworks and the metal plants around Mostar, and where an original fitting on older mill plant has no current equivalent, we say so at quotation and propose an adapter.

Should we reuse the old fittings when replacing a hose on decades-old plant?

No. On plant in service for decades, the fitting a hose was crimped to has seen the same decades, and reusing it because it looks sound is how a repair fails again within a month. We supply a replacement as a complete assembly — new hose, new ferrules, new fittings — crimped and pressure-tested in Dubai. Where nothing current matches the port, we tell you in advance and usually solve it with an adapter.

Do you supply flame-resistant hose for underground coal mines in central Bosnia?

Yes, where the mine specifies it. Underground coal at Kakanj, Banovići and around Tuzla puts hose next to dust, roof-support hydraulics and, often, a requirement for flame-resistant covers. Send the mine’s specification with the bore, working pressure and end fittings, and we quote hose and assemblies that meet it, with the manufacturer’s documentation where the specification calls for it.

Our Neretva hydro unit is decades old — can you still match its hydraulic connections?

Usually, yes. Send the nameplate data or the original part number, the working pressure and the fluid, and we match the connection on gate, governor and actuator circuits rather than approximate it — hose, fittings, valves and seals for the Neretva and Drina cascades alike. Where no current fitting matches the port, we say so in advance and propose an adapter. Outage work is best ordered on the 22–30 day sea-and-road lane, well before the shutdown.

Is the Ploče lane quick enough for planned shutdown spares?

Yes, if the order is placed three to four weeks ahead, since sea and road through Ploče and Bijača run typically 22–30 days from dispatch. This is a planned-consumables lane: batch shutdown and maintenance lines onto one transit file. For a line that is down, air into Sarajevo is the honest answer and we will say so.

Does an urgent part for Sarajevo fly direct from Dubai?

No — air freight from Dubai to Sarajevo runs with a connection, typically 3–5 days from dispatch. That is worth paying for on the assembly that has stopped a line rather than on a full order, which is better on the sea-and-road lane through Ploče. Send the failed hose’s markings or the drawing with the order, and we build and pressure-test the assembly in Dubai before it flies.

Iron ore at Prijedor and bauxite in Herzegovina are open-pit — which hose cover lasts there?

An abrasion-resistant cover, chosen for the circuit rather than the pressure alone. Open-pit ore work wears the outside of a hose through rubbing, rock contact and dust long before the reinforcement is tested. We supply spiral hose to EN 856 and SAE J517, made up to length with the machine’s original end fittings, and protective sleeving where hoses run against each other. Delivery is DAP to the mine, by Rijeka for Prijedor or Ploče for Herzegovina.
