Supplying Honduras, in detail

Why does Puerto Cortés make Honduras an easier lane than its neighbours?

Because it is the deepest natural harbour in Central America and takes larger vessels than any other port on the isthmus. Honduran cargo therefore usually arrives on a direct call rather than waiting for a feeder at a transhipment hub, which removes a handling step and a source of delay. It also sits within easy road distance of San Pedro Sula, where most of the industrial demand is.

How long does sea freight from Jebel Ali to Puerto Cortés take?

Typically 32 to 40 days for a full container through Suez and across the Atlantic. Consolidated LCL cargo with transhipment runs 38 to 50 days and suits small mixed orders. Air freight from Dubai to San Pedro Sula (SAP) takes 4 to 8 days with connections and is the option when a mill or line is down. Transit is counted from dispatch.

Which hose suits palm oil mill sterilisers, presses and washdown?

One chosen on temperature and cleaning regime, not bore and pressure alone. A palm mill combines hot oil at the liner, live steam and constant high-pressure washdown with detergent outside, which defeats a general-purpose cover within a season. Tell us the operating temperature, the medium and how the plant is cleaned, and we confirm the compound against that duty at quotation.

Is there a conformity scheme for importing hose and fittings into Honduras?

No — there is no blanket pre-shipment conformity scheme for industrial hose and fittings. The file is the customs import declaration raised by the importer through the customs administration, our commercial invoice, a packing list in Spanish matching the declaration, and a Dubai Chamber attested certificate of origin. Material and test certificates are added where the mill specification calls for them.

Can you deliver to mills in the Sula valley and the Aguán?

Yes, on DAP terms to the mill gate in the Sula valley around San Pedro Sula and El Progreso, or along the Aguán and the Atlántida coast. The road leg from Puerto Cortés is short for most of these sites and is priced into the quotation with the sea freight, so you receive one delivered figure. CIF Puerto Cortés is available if your broker handles clearance.

Is San Lorenzo a better gate for Choluteca and the south?

Sometimes. San Lorenzo on the Pacific coast can be the better port for Choluteca and southern sites, though it has fewer sailings than Puerto Cortés. Rather than defaulting to the Caribbean side, we compare both routings against the delivery point and the schedule, and quote whichever lands better.

Do Honduran customs documents need to be in Spanish?

Yes. The documents are in Spanish, and the description of each line has to agree across the commercial invoice, the packing list and the importer's declaration. We agree that Spanish wording at quotation and carry it unchanged onto every document before the vessel sails, so the declaration in Puerto Cortés matches what is in the container.

How do we compare your quote with a price from a San Pedro Sula distributor?

Compare landed against landed. A local distributor's price already contains freight, duty, clearance and delivery; an export quotation on FOB Jebel Ali or EXW Dubai covers only the goods leaving Dubai. Ask us for CIF Puerto Cortés or DAP to your site if that is the figure you are comparing against, and we state plainly what is included and what is not.

Can you supply the San Pedro Sula and Choloma maquila plants?

Yes. A mixed maintenance order can travel consolidated as LCL, and assemblies can be made up to length before they ship.
