Supplying Iraq, in detail

How long does air freight from Dubai to Baghdad, Basra or Erbil take?

Typically 4–6 working days from dispatch, flown from DXB into BGW, BSR or EBL. Air is the default mode for Iraq because most orders here replace a part that has already failed, and the COSQC paperwork is prepared in Dubai before the flight so it does not add days on arrival. For heavy items we compare air against road via Kuwait and say which makes sense for the weight.

What is COSQC and who arranges it?

COSQC is the Iraqi conformity requirement, verified before shipment by an appointed inspection body rather than at the border. We arrange it from the part numbers on your order and confirm at quotation which lines fall in scope and which do not. Where a product is in scope, the pre-shipment inspection is booked around picking in Dubai, so the certificate is ready when the goods are.

Which documents travel with a shipment to Iraq?

The COSQC certificate of conformity for in-scope lines, a pre-shipment inspection report where the product requires one, a Certificate of Origin attested by Dubai Chamber, and our commercial invoice and packing list. Material and test certificates are added where the order calls for them. Everything is prepared in Dubai before dispatch, whichever mode the order travels on.

Can you ship to Erbil and the Kurdistan Region as well as Baghdad and Basra?

Yes. Baghdad, Basra and Erbil all take direct air freight from Dubai, typically 4–6 working days. The paperwork differs by destination and we prepare it accordingly, so tell us the delivery city at enquiry. For sites elsewhere in the Kurdistan Region, such as Sulaymaniyah or Duhok, we quote DAP to the site where the onward leg can be arranged, or delivery to Erbil for your own transport.

How does road freight from Dubai to Iraq work?

Road freight runs through Kuwait and enters Iraq at the Safwan crossing, typically 8–12 days from dispatch. It is the mode for volume and full loads — a truck of hose reels, fittings or flow iron for a Basra yard — where air would cost more than the time it saves. Conformity documents are completed in Dubai before the truck leaves, so the crossing does not wait on paperwork.

How long does sea freight to Umm Qasr take?

Fourteen to twenty-one days from dispatch as LCL from Jebel Ali, port to port plus clearance. Sea is the right mode for heavy or oversize packages — large-bore flow iron, valve assemblies, long hose reels — and the wrong one for a plant-down, where air into Basra is the answer. CIF Umm Qasr is one of the standard terms we quote.

Do you supply contractors on the Rumaila, West Qurna and Majnoon fields?

Yes, we supply contractors and service companies working the Basra fields, quoted against the specification in their purchase order. That typically means API 6A wellhead and valve parts, API 16C choke and kill lines, API 7K drilling hose and NACE MR0175 material for sour service, with the certification travelling with the goods. Delivery is by air into Basra or DAP to the contractor’s yard.

Can you quote original parts against an Iraqi oilfield tender?

For TechnipFMC, Cameron (SLB), SPM, Anson, Stream-Flo and WOM, yes — we supply original parts from those makes. For other makes we quote against the standard the tender names, whether API 6A, API 16C, API 7K or NACE MR0175, state the equivalent offered and what differs from the original, and the certification travels with the goods rather than following later.

Can you identify a failed hose from photographs?

Usually, yes. Photographs of the failed assembly — both end fittings, any printing on the hose and the machine it came off — are normally enough to identify the hose and its ends without anything being measured. That matters in Iraq, where the person beside the machine is rarely the person raising the order. Where the original brand is one we no longer carry, we name the equivalent and what differs about it.

Do you make up hose assemblies to length for Iraqi sites?

Yes. Assemblies are crimped to length and pressure-tested in Dubai and shipped as finished items, tagged with the hose, the fitting and the test date. Send the length, bore, end fittings and working pressure, or a photograph of the old assembly, and we select SAE J517, EN 853/856 or ISO 18752 hose to suit the duty. The tag lets your site reorder the identical build.

Do you supply legalised documents for Iraqi contracts?

Yes, where the buyer’s contract requires legalisation. The Certificate of Origin is attested by Dubai Chamber and then legalised through the chamber and the consulate, which adds working days to the normal preparation. Raise it at enquiry rather than after dispatch, so it runs in parallel with picking and inspection instead of holding finished goods in Dubai.

How do I get a quotation from Iraq?

Send the part numbers — or bore, thread form and working pressure, or photographs — with the delivery city and the Incoterm you want. We quote in AED or USD, stating DAP to site, CIF Umm Qasr, FOB Jebel Ali or EXW Dubai, and confirm at the same time which lines need COSQC. Dispatch dates are confirmed on the quotation against stock, never assumed.
