Supplying Suriname, in detail

Can a Suriname import file be issued in English, or must it be Dutch?

Either is workable, but the file is read in Dutch. We issue in English and write each description so that a Dutch-language declaration can carry it without a translator inventing a technical term at the pier — a guessed translation is what gets queried. Descriptions agree across the invoice, the packing list and the declaration the importer lodges with Douane Suriname before arrival.

Is Trinidad a better source than Dubai for parts needed in Paramaribo?

For anything urgent, yes — Trinidad is closer and that is the honest answer. What we compete on is the planned order: hose, fittings and valve consumables held as real stock, quoted against a specification and shipped once, rather than bought at short notice and a premium. Cargo from Dubai usually tranships through Trinidad or another Caribbean hub on its way to Paramaribo in any case.

What does a Suriname offshore consignment need besides the customs declaration?

The operator's specification, not a national scheme. Suriname has no general pre-shipment conformity scheme; the customs file is a declaration against the invoice and packing list and an attested certificate of origin. What matters is manufacturer monogram and licence documentation, NACE MR0175 material documentation and mill certificates, all confirmed line by line at quotation and prepared before the container is loaded.

How long is the transhipped sea route from Jebel Ali to Paramaribo?

Typically 35 to 45 days FCL from dispatch, round the Cape of Good Hope and transhipped through Trinidad or a Caribbean hub onto the feeder that also serves Georgetown. Consolidated LCL with two transhipments runs 42 to 55 days. Air freight into Paramaribo (PBM) takes 5 to 9 days with at least one connection, for a line that is down.

How should contractors on Block 58 plan their consumables orders?

Against the drilling and installation programme, not against a failure. With five to seven weeks on the sea lane and a local supply chain that is still thin, the useful order is batched from the programme's expected consumption — hose, fittings, valve spares, flow iron — and placed a month or more ahead. Planned consumables arrive at a fraction of what the same parts cost flown in against a rig date.

Can you deliver DAP to a shore base or yard in Paramaribo?

Yes. On DAP terms we deliver to the base gate or yard at Paramaribo. The leg beyond the port is short and it is priced, not estimated. Tell us the gate requirements and any marking the logistics contractor needs, and each package carries its own contents list and purchase-order line so it can be received without opening the whole consignment.

Our equipment is contracted, not owned — how do you match parts without drawings?

From photographs and measurements of the machine in front of you. On contracted or rented equipment there are often no drawings and no authority to modify anything, and the unit has to go back as it came — which rules out improvised adapters and anything that permanently alters a fitting. We match rather than approximate, and where the only correct answer is the original manufacturer's part, we tell you that instead.

Can you supply API 6A wellhead and API 16C choke-and-kill equipment to onshore contractors in Saramacca?

Yes. We supply API 6A wellhead, API 16A BOP, API 16C choke and kill and API 7K drilling hose, in makes including TechnipFMC, Cameron (SLB), SPM, Anson, Stream-Flo and WOM, with NACE MR0175 material documentation where the contract requires it. That applies equally to the onshore fields in Saramacca and the offshore programme; monogram documentation is confirmed per product at quotation.

How do you get hose and fittings to a gold operation beyond Brokopondo?

We land it at Paramaribo and quote to the point where your own transport takes over, whether that is a Paramaribo yard or a site reached by road from the capital. The order itself — high-pressure hose, crimp fittings, couplings and assemblies for excavators, haul trucks, drills and dredge pumps — is specified for mud, water and abrasion, so tell us the machine and where each line runs. Packages are marked by contents for split onward loads.

Do you supply hydraulics for the Afobaka hydro plant and Paramaribo power stations?

Yes — governor, gate and actuator components, hose, fittings and valves for hydro and thermal generation, including the Afobaka dam on the Brokopondo reservoir and the diesel and HFO plant serving Paramaribo. Send the nameplate data and existing part numbers and we match them exactly rather than approximate; the inland leg to Afobaka is quoted, not estimated.
