Supplying Georgia, in detail

What replaces the EAC certificate for goods cleared in Georgia?

A national conformity declaration where the line falls under a Georgian technical regulation, prepared at origin before the vessel sails — and nothing at all where it does not. Georgia is outside the Eurasian Economic Union, so the EAC documents Kazakhstan and Armenia require do not apply. The rest of the file is short: the importer’s customs declaration through the Revenue Service, invoice and packing list, the bill of lading and an attested certificate of origin.

Should cargo for Georgia go to Poti or Batumi?

Poti for containerised cargo, which is most of what we ship; Batumi where the berth or the onward road leg suits the cargo better. Batumi serves Adjara and the south-west, while Poti sits closer to Kutaisi, Zestaponi and the main road east to Tbilisi and Rustavi. Name the delivery town at enquiry and we choose the port, rather than defaulting to one and adding a road leg nobody needed.

Why does Georgian cargo go through Suez rather than overland from the Gulf?

Because the overland routes from the Gulf cross jurisdictions we will not route through without an export-compliance ruling. The sea corridor from Jebel Ali through Suez and the Black Sea is longer on the map, but it is the one we run: typically 22–28 days to Poti for a full container, or 28–36 days for a small mixed order consolidated with transhipment.

Can cargo landing at Poti continue to Armenia, Baku or Aktau?

Yes. Poti is where the Middle Corridor reaches the Black Sea, and a good deal of what lands there travels on — by road to Armenia through Sadakhlo, or by rail and ferry to Baku and Aktau. Each onward routing is a different customs file from the outset rather than a variation applied later, so say so at quotation and the transit documents are prepared before the vessel sails.

What transfer hose do you supply for Black Sea oil terminals?

Hose for loading and offloading duty, specified within the terminal’s certification regime rather than bought as a consumable. Flexible sections on a loading system are inspected and certified as part of it, and they carry hydrocarbons at volume, where a failure is an environmental event. Composite construction is common for that reason — it fails progressively rather than catastrophically. Tell us the product and the certification regime, and we work within both.

What hose survives furnace-side duty at Zestaponi and Rustavi?

Hose protected for the heat it actually sees, routed so it is not the first thing radiant heat reaches. Near ferroalloy furnaces and hot metal lines we specify heat-resistant sleeving over the assembly, fittings in a material suited to the temperature, and a working-pressure margin that allows for heat ageing. Tell us the distance from the heat source, the fluid and its temperature, and the position in the circuit, and we specify from that.

Does air freight into Tbilisi make sense for planned maintenance?

Usually not. Air from Dubai to Tbilisi takes three to five days and is worth its cost when a line is down; for planned work the sea lane to Poti, typically 22–28 days, is predictable enough to order against. The useful pattern is to ship the planned shutdown list by sea and keep air for the one assembly that turns out to be missing once the plant is opened up.

Can a contractor on the East–West Highway order direct to a site?

Yes, on DAP terms to the site. Name the site location, the access route and any delivery window at enquiry, because the road leg from Poti or Batumi is quoted rather than estimated and mountain sections change the vehicle that can reach you. Excavator, crane and batching-plant hydraulics ship as one consignment, with the customs declaration raised by the importer and the paperwork and tracking sent together.

Can a Georgian tender file include a manufacturer’s certificate of conformity?

Yes, on request. A manufacturer certificate of conformity can accompany the goods, alongside material and test certificates from the mill or our test bench where the order calls for them, and a Dubai Chamber attested certificate of origin. The national conformity declaration is added only where a line falls under a Georgian technical regulation. Send the tender’s document list with the enquiry and we confirm what each line will carry.

Why is Georgia simpler to supply than Kazakhstan or Armenia?

Because the sea leg is the same corridor and the paperwork is shorter. Goods for Baku, Aktau and Armenia use the same route through Suez and the Black Sea; Georgian cargo simply stops earlier, at Poti or Batumi. And because Georgia is outside the Eurasian Economic Union, there is no EAC certificate to raise in the importer’s name — a national declaration where a line is regulated, otherwise a clean customs file.
