Supplying Italy, in detail

Why would an Italian skid or package builder import hydraulics from Dubai?

Because the package is not staying in Italy. A skid built in Lombardy or Emilia-Romagna for a Gulf, West African or Caspian contract has to be plumbed to the destination’s standard — GOST couplings, API-monogrammed assemblies, SS316L thread forms — and each of those is stock for us and a factory order with weeks of lead time locally. For a standard Italian-pattern part, a local distributor remains the faster answer.

What should we send when the package is built to another country’s standard?

The destination specification, not an Italian part number. We quote against the receiving country’s standard, including the material documentation it will ask for, and the destination standard is confirmed in writing at quotation for each package. If the end user’s contract names API monograms or NACE MR0175, put it on the enquiry so the certificates are priced in from the start rather than chased after the skid has shipped.

Can API wellhead items and the hose for an Italian-built skid travel on one consignment?

Yes. We supply API 6A wellhead, API 16A BOP, API 16C choke and kill and API 7K drilling hose, with NACE MR0175 material documentation where the contract requires it, and these can sail on the same file as the hydraulic hose and fittings. We supply TechnipFMC, Cameron (SLB), SPM, Anson, Stream-Flo and WOM equipment, so one quotation can cover the pressure-control items and the skid plumbing together.

Does a hose assembly cleared at Genoa or Trieste need CE marking?

Only above the pressure-volume threshold in PED 2014/68/EU — there, yes, and our declaration of conformity travels with the goods. Below it, sound engineering practice applies and there is no mark. Either way the consignment carries our REACH position on the elastomer compounds and a Dubai Chamber-attested Certificate of Origin, and the importer raises one entry into free circulation through Italian Customs on arrival.

Should our consignment land at Genoa, Trieste or a southern port?

Genoa for the north-west and the Turin–Milan belt; Trieste for the north-east and anything continuing into Austria or Hungary; Gioia Tauro or Taranto where the delivery is south of Rome. Full containers from Jebel Ali through Suez take typically 16–22 days, and small mixed orders, consolidated with transhipment, 22–30 days. We choose the port against the delivery town and quote the road leg on DAP terms.

Is air freight into Milan Malpensa worth it for a stopped line?

Sometimes. Air from Dubai to Malpensa takes typically 2–4 days against 16–22 by sea to Genoa, so it earns its cost on a single critical assembly rather than a full order. For a line that is down with a standard part, a local Italian distributor is still faster and we will say so; air from us makes sense when the part is a pattern nobody in Italy stocks.

Can you finish hose assemblies for visible runs on a superyacht?

Yes. Stabiliser, passerelle, hatch and steering circuits on yachts from the Viareggio and La Spezia yards often run through spaces the owner sees, so cover finish, sleeving, consistent cut lengths and clean identification matter alongside the pressure rating — and fire performance where a line passes through a machinery space. None of that is on a standard hydraulic specification, so tell us the assembly is for a visible run and we build and finish it accordingly.

Do you supply equipment for Adriatic offshore gas work out of Ravenna?

Yes, on CIF or DAP terms. Ravenna is the service hub for Italy’s Adriatic offshore gas platforms, and the work there calls for high-pressure hose, flow iron, valves and wellhead parts to API specifications rather than catalogue industrial items. Cargo usually discharges at Trieste or Genoa and continues by road, with the inland leg priced in the quotation; NACE MR0175 documentation is included where the contract asks for it.

Can you supply high-force hydraulics for steelworks in Taranto or Brescia?

Yes — high-force cylinders, servo valves and hose assemblies compatible with the plant’s fire-resistant fluid. Taranto is itself one of the southern ports on this lane, so the integrated works there can take delivery close to the quay, while the electric-arc mills around Brescia are served through Genoa with a priced road leg. Give us the fluid designation rather than “fire-resistant”, because the fluid families attack different compounds.

Do you supply hydraulics for geothermal plant at Larderello?

Yes — actuator and governor hydraulics, high-temperature hose and valves for the Tuscan geothermal fields. Geothermal steam carries hydrogen sulphide, which changes the material choice for fittings and valve trim, so tell us the steam temperature, pressure and the H2S content at enquiry. Where the operator’s specification calls for NACE MR0175 material documentation, we supply it with the order rather than as an afterthought.

Do you supply lay flat hose to Italy?

Yes. TPU lay flat hose goes to Italy for irrigation and borehole risers, construction dewatering, and snowmaking hose for Alpine resorts; PVC lay flat is supplied for low-pressure irrigation lines. Hose ships from Dubai as bulk coils up to 400 m or as made-up assemblies with couplings fitted, with the size table and pressure rating for each bore.
