Supplying Algeria, in detail

How long does sea freight from Dubai to Algiers take?

Typically 18–25 days from dispatch as FCL from Jebel Ali through Suez to Algiers or Skikda, with Oran also served. Small mixed orders travel LCL with transshipment and take 24–32 days. Because the import file has to be domiciled and the credit opened before shipment, the realistic timeline starts when your bank is ready, not when the order is placed.

Why does the quotation matter so much for Algeria?

Because your bank opens credit against it. The quotation has to carry the description, tariff line, Incoterm, currency and delivery terms accurately enough for a domiciled import file, and amending a domiciled file is slower than getting it right the first time. We quote line by line for that reason, and the same descriptions run unchanged through the invoice and packing list.

Do you accept letters of credit?

Yes. Documentary credit is the normal settlement route for this lane, and our quotations are issued in a form a bank can work from. We quote in USD, which is the currency the credit is normally opened in, and we check the credit terms against the quotation before shipment so the documents presented match what the bank expects.

Which documents does an Algerian import need from you?

A commercial invoice and packing list in French, a Certificate of Origin attested by Dubai Chamber and legalised where required, and a certificate of conformity from a recognised certification body for regulated goods. On your side, the import file is domiciled with your bank and the documentary credit opened before shipment. We confirm at quotation, per product, which lines need conformity documentation.

Do the shipping documents have to be in French for Algeria?

Yes, and they have to agree with each other. The invoice and packing list are prepared in French in Dubai before the vessel sails. A description that differs between the invoice, the credit and the customs declaration is the commonest cause of delay on this lane, so we hold one description per line from quotation through to dispatch.

Can you deliver to Hassi Messaoud and the Saharan bases?

Yes, on DAP terms to the base gate. The inland leg south from Algiers is quoted rather than estimated, and site access requirements need to come with the order. Hassi R’Mel, In Amenas and Ouargla are handled the same way: the sea or air leg into Algiers, then road freight to the base, with the documents for the whole route prepared before the vessel sails.

Can you supply sour-service equipment for the Saharan gas fields?

Yes. We supply NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 rated valves, wellhead parts and fittings with material certificates, which the Saharan gas fields generally require. Where a tender also names API 6A or API 16C, we quote against those standards line by line, and the certification travels with the goods rather than following them.

Which hose suits Saharan heat at Hassi Messaoud or In Amenas?

One specified for the ambient temperature as well as the working pressure. Sustained desert heat ages the cover and inner tube long before the braid or spiral nears its limit, so a hose chosen on pressure alone can meet its rating and still fail early. Tell us the fluid temperature and the site ambient and we select the compound, seals and grease against both.

How long does air freight to Algiers take?

Four to six days into Algiers from dispatch, flown DXB to ALG and quoted per shipment. It is the right answer for a plant-down and an expensive one for a planned order. For an urgent order, raise the bank file at the same time as the enquiry, because documents for Algeria are prepared once the file is domiciled and the credit is open.
