Where people are carried, substitution is not a decision you make

On equipment that carries passengers, components are approved as part of a certified system and an inspector will ask what was fitted and on whose authority. An equivalent hose is not equivalent in that context, whatever its rating, because the approval attaches to the specific item rather than to the specification. So the correct answer here is almost always the originally specified part with its documentation, and where we cannot obtain that we will say so rather than propose something that would put a certificate at risk.
