Supplying Austria, in detail

Why does most Austrian cargo come up from the Adriatic rather than down from Hamburg?

Because the Adriatic is materially shorter out of Suez. Sea and road via Koper or Trieste typically takes 20–26 days against 26–34 days through Hamburg and the Rhine corridor, and a container discharged at Koper is a few hours from Graz. We use the northern gate where the delivery sits in Upper Austria or Vorarlberg and the road leg reverses the advantage, and we choose against the delivery town rather than a forwarder’s default.

Does cargo cleared at Koper or Trieste need a transit document to cross into Austria?

No. Austria is inside the customs union, so the importer enters the goods once at Koper, Trieste or Hamburg into free circulation, and the road leg into Austria is domestic movement. There is no second entry at the border and no transit document. The consignment travels with our Dubai Chamber-attested Certificate of Origin, our REACH position on the elastomer compounds and, for assemblies above threshold, the PED declaration.

Can a CE-declared equivalent hose replace the original on an Austrian cable car or ropeway?

Usually not, and we will not propose one. On passenger-carrying equipment components are approved as part of a certified system, so an equivalent is not equivalent whatever its rating. Our PED declaration covers our own assemblies above the PED 2014/68/EU threshold; it does not transfer an approval. We source the originally specified part with its documentation, and where we cannot obtain it we say so rather than put a certificate at risk.

We build ropeways in Vorarlberg for resorts abroad — can you supply the specified hose to the export site?

Yes, where the specified part is one we can obtain with its documentation. Tell us the item exactly as it appears on the approved system and the destination; we quote DAP to the project site, FOB Jebel Ali or EXW Dubai for your forwarder, and confirm the document set at quotation. If the specified item is not available to us, we say so rather than offer a substitute.

Our site is in Tyrol — does flying a part into Vienna still beat the Adriatic lane?

For a stopped machine, usually yes. Air freight from Dubai to Vienna typically takes 2–4 days, and the onward road leg west is domestic movement priced with the order, so the total is still far shorter than the 20–26 day Adriatic lane. For planned maintenance in the west, the sea lane via Koper or the northern gate through Hamburg is the economical choice.

Can you deliver DAP to an Alpine valley station or a tunnel portal?

Yes. On DAP terms the road leg from Koper, Trieste or Hamburg to the site is domestic movement and is priced with the order. Tell us the exact delivery point and any access limits — weight restrictions, narrow approach roads, a seasonal pass — and we will say at quotation where the delivery needs a smaller vehicle than a standard trailer.

Do you supply hose and fittings for forging presses in Kapfenberg and Leoben?

Yes. Forging and rolling presses in Styria run high-force cylinders and servo valves, and the hose and fittings serving them are specified by working pressure, impulse duty and the fluid, including fire-resistant fluids near hot work. Send the press duty and the existing assembly data and we quote to it; material and test certificates come with the order where it calls for them.

Can hose near magnesite kilns in Styria and Carinthia cope with heat as well as dust?

Yes, if it is specified for both. Around magnesite kilns and sinter plant the hydraulics see radiant heat and fine abrasive dust together, so the cover, any heat sleeve and the fitting plating are chosen for where the line runs, not only for pressure. Tell us the machine, the distance from the hot zone and the cycle rate. The pits and the Erzberg haul fleet need dust-rated, high-cycle hose rather than heat protection.

What do you need to quote governor or gate hydraulics for an Alpine storage plant?

The plant’s existing assembly data — bore, length, end fittings, working pressure — and the fluid, plus any material certification the operator specifies, such as EN 10204 3.1. Governor, actuator and gate hydraulics on storage and pumped-storage schemes are often changed in a short outage window, so we confirm the full document set at quotation and dispatch everything for the window on one file.

Do you supply hydraulics for the aluminium plant at Ranshofen?

Yes. Extrusion presses, rolling stands and casting equipment at Ranshofen in Upper Austria use high-force cylinders, servo valves and hose that has to tolerate heat near the press and casting areas. Because Ranshofen sits in Upper Austria, we compare the northern gate through Hamburg with the Adriatic at quotation, and the road leg is priced with the order.
