Supplying Belgium, in detail

Why would an Antwerp plant buy hose from Dubai rather than a Belgian distributor?

For a standard fitting it should not. What we are asked for here is the aggressive-duty specification — PTFE and composite hose, SS316L fittings, and compound documentation for a plant safety case — where the local answer is often a factory build with weeks of lead time and ours is stock. If the enquiry turns out to be a standard part, we will say so.

Can you supply compound documentation good enough for a plant safety case?

Yes, and it is the commonest reason a Belgian chemical plant calls us. Give us the medium, the temperature and the concentration at quotation, and we state the compound, its resistance to that medium, its position under REACH and where it is unsuitable — rather than supplying to bore and pressure alone and leaving the plant to find out in service.

What arrives with a chemical transfer assembly cleared at Antwerp?

A declaration of conformity for any assembly above the pressure-volume threshold in PED 2014/68/EU — below it, sound engineering practice applies and there is no CE mark — plus our REACH position on the elastomer and PTFE compounds, a chemical compatibility statement for the named medium, and a Dubai Chamber-attested Certificate of Origin. The importer raises the entry into free circulation through Belgian Customs on arrival.

Antwerp, Ghent or Zeebrugge — does the port change anything?

Only the inland leg. Antwerp suits almost everything and has the shortest run to the chemical belt at Kallo, Geel and Tessenderlo; Ghent or Zeebrugge where a berth or sailing suits better. Clearance is identical at all three. Full containers from Jebel Ali through Suez take typically 22–28 days, and small mixed orders, consolidated via a European hub, 28–36 days.

Can goods clear at Antwerp for a site in France or Germany?

Yes. Goods enter free circulation once at Antwerp and move inland under the customs union, so a consignment for a French or German site does not clear twice. Give us the final address and we quote the inland leg as part of a DAP price under Incoterms 2020, rather than stopping at the quay and leaving you to arrange the onward truck.

Do you build PTFE-lined and flanged composite hose assemblies?

Yes — flanged composite assemblies for chemical transfer and PTFE-lined hose for high-temperature aggressive duty, built and pressure-tested in Dubai. Tell us the medium, concentration, temperature and the flange standard on the tank or line, and the quotation names the liner and end fittings to suit, with the chemical compatibility statement attached for the duty it is built for.

How do you stop a hose rated for one chemical ending up on another line?

By colour coding and permanently tagging every assembly to your site’s service scheme rather than ours. On a site handling many media, the real risk is an assembly moved from one duty to another because it was on the shelf and physically fitted. Tagging by service, medium and line number costs nothing at build and removes that whole category of mistake later.

How quickly can an urgent assembly reach Brussels by air?

Typically 2–4 days from Dubai to Brussels Airport, against 22–28 days by sea to Antwerp. Air is worth it for a single assembly holding up a unit restart, not for a routine order. For a standard fitting a Belgian distributor will beat both and we will say so; air from us earns its cost when the item is a specification nobody nearby holds.

Do you supply hydraulics for the steelworks at Ghent, Liège and Genk?

Yes — high-force cylinders, servo valves and hose assemblies compatible with fire-resistant fluids for the integrated works at Ghent, the rolling and coating lines around Liège and stainless production at Genk. Tell us the fluid designation, because water-glycol and phosphate ester attack different compounds, and say whether the run sees radiant heat so protective sleeving can be specified with the assembly.

Can you deliver to Feluy and other sites in Wallonia?

Yes, on DAP terms. Feluy, south of Brussels, hosts a major petrochemical and polymer site, and Liège, Charleroi and Mons are reached by road from Antwerp in the same way as the Flemish plants. Clearance happens once at the port, so a Walloon delivery carries the same documents as one to Kallo, with the road leg priced into the quotation.

Do you supply hydraulics for dredgers, tugs and offshore wind vessels working from Belgian ports?

Yes — hose assemblies, fittings and valves for deck machinery, winches, cranes and terminal equipment on fleets working from Antwerp, Ghent, Zeebrugge and Ostend, including vessels serving the Belgian North Sea wind farms. Seawater exposure and long running hours decide the cover compound and fitting plating as much as the pressure rating, so tell us where the line runs and we specify accordingly.

Do you supply lay flat hose to Belgium?

Yes. TPU and NBR lay flat hose goes to Belgium for dewatering, flood pumping and temporary water lines, and slurry supply and drag hose for agricultural contractors, with couplings and reels to match.
