Supplying France, in detail

Should a container for Lyon or Toulouse land at Fos or Le Havre?

Fos. Marseille-Fos is 18–24 days from Jebel Ali through Suez, while Le Havre means carrying on past Gibraltar and up the Atlantic for 25–32 days. A container for Lyon, Toulouse or Grenoble that routes via the Channel has given a week away. Le Havre or Dunkirk earn their place only for the north, Paris and the Channel coast.

Can mill certificates to heat number be ready before goods leave Dubai?

Yes, and in French nuclear, defence and rail supply chains that is when they should be asked for. We name the material standard, assemble mill certificates traceable to heat number, and issue the file with the consignment rather than reconstructing it months later when an auditor asks. Tell us at quotation which regime the order sits under, so we do not assume the commercial one.

Does the PED declaration go into the same traceability file as the mill certificates?

Yes, where both apply. For a hose assembly above the PED 2014/68/EU pressure-volume threshold, we issue the declaration of conformity as the assembler before dispatch and it travels with the goods alongside the material certificates. Below the threshold sound engineering practice applies and there is no mark. Which side each line falls on is stated at quotation.

Should a French plant buy standard hose and fittings from you?

No — for a standard item a local distributor is the right answer. What we hold is the pattern a French plant needs for equipment destined elsewhere, a stainless thread form, or a material grade a local distributor orders in rather than stocks. If your enquiry is ordinary catalogue product, we will tell you rather than quote a sea lane against a French shelf.

Is the REACH position on hose compounds included in a French quotation?

Yes. We state our position on the elastomer compounds supplied at quotation, including where a compound carries a restriction relevant to your application, and offer an alternative where it does. It sits with the PED position and the traceability documents, so your goods-in team receives one file rather than three answers chased separately.

Can you deliver to a plant in the Rhône corridor rather than the quay at Fos?

Yes, on DAP terms. The inland leg from Fos up the Rhône corridor to Lyon, Grenoble or Saint-Étienne is domestic movement under the customs union, and it is priced with the order rather than left to be arranged. Give us the site address and receiving hours and the quotation covers delivery to the gate.

When is Dunkirk the better French port?

When the delivery is in Hauts-de-France or close to the Belgian border and the berth suits the sailing. Dunkirk and Le Havre are both on the longer Atlantic route — Le Havre is 25–32 days from Jebel Ali — so they only make sense where the road leg from Fos would cost the week back. We choose against the delivery town.

Our group runs sites in West and North Africa from Paris — can you supply them direct?

Yes, and that is often the better arrangement. We already ship to most of the African markets French contractors work in, so one central agreement with delivery direct to each site is usually cheaper than routing through France. It also standardises hose and fittings, so an assembly built for one site fits the identical machine on another.

How fast is air freight from Dubai to Paris when a line is down?

Typically 2–4 days from Dubai to Paris Charles de Gaulle. Air is for breakdowns; planned maintenance and project supply go by sea to Marseille-Fos in 18–24 days. If an urgent line also needs traceable documentation, say so at the enquiry, because the certificates must be ready to travel with the goods rather than follow them.

What does the importer need from us to clear goods through French Customs?

The importer raises the entry into free circulation through French Customs on arrival; we supply the commercial invoice, packing list, a Dubai Chamber attested Certificate of Origin, the PED declaration where an assembly is above threshold, our REACH position, and mill certificates traceable to heat number where the supply chain requires them. All of it is prepared before the vessel sails.

Do you supply valves and industrial hose for Fos-Lavéra and Seine estuary refineries?

Yes. Industrial valves, transfer hose and couplings, and hydraulic hose and fittings for refinery, petrochemical and terminal maintenance ship together on one consignment to Fos or Le Havre. Send the datasheet with media, temperature, pressure class and end connections, and name any material or sour-service documentation the site requires so it is confirmed at quotation.

Do you supply lay flat hose to France?

Yes. TPU lay flat hose goes to France for construction dewatering and temporary pumping, slurry supply and drag hose for agricultural spreading, and snowmaking hose for Alpine resorts, with Storz, grooved and flanged couplings. Hose ships from Dubai as bulk coils up to 400 m or as made-up assemblies with couplings fitted, with the size table and pressure rating for each bore.
