Supplying Luxembourg, in detail

Is there a good reason for a Luxembourg buyer to source from Dubai?

Only one, and it is narrow: a pattern not stocked in the region — GOST couplings, SS316L thread forms, API-monogrammed assemblies — usually for equipment being built in Luxembourg for export to a market with a different standard. For anything standard, a Belgian or German distributor is closer, faster and the right answer, and we will tell you so rather than quote against it.

Is there a border formality when goods reach Luxembourg?

No. Goods clear once into free circulation at Antwerp or Rotterdam and reach Luxembourg as domestic movement under the customs union. There is no second clearance, no transit document and nothing to arrange at the border; the importer’s entry at the port is the whole customs file, and the road leg is ordinary domestic haulage.

Is the road leg from Antwerp to Luxembourg included in the price?

It can be, and usually should be. We quote DAP to your site with the domestic road run from Antwerp or Rotterdam priced with the order, rather than stopping at the quay and leaving you to arrange it. CIF Antwerp, FOB Jebel Ali and EXW Dubai for a nominated forwarder are also available under Incoterms 2020 if you prefer to handle the inland leg yourself.

Antwerp or Rotterdam — which port serves Luxembourg better?

Either works and clearance is identical, so the choice comes down to the sailing and the berth rather than the border. Combined sea and road transit is typically 24–30 days from dispatch for a full shipment, and 30–38 days for a small mixed order consolidated via a European hub. From either port the run to Esch-sur-Alzette or Luxembourg City is a domestic road leg.

Does the PED declaration still travel with goods cleared at Rotterdam and trucked to Luxembourg?

Yes. For any hose assembly above the pressure-volume threshold in PED 2014/68/EU, our declaration of conformity travels with the goods through the port and the road leg; below the threshold, sound engineering practice applies and there is no CE mark. The file also carries our REACH position on the elastomer compounds and a Dubai Chamber-attested Certificate of Origin.

Which hose suits fire-resistant fluids on the Belval and Differdange mill lines?

One matched to the exact fluid family, because water-glycol, phosphate ester and the other fire-resistant types attack quite different compounds. Near hot steel, a pinhole spraying mineral oil is an ignition source, which is why mill hydraulics move to these fluids in the first place. Give us the fluid designation rather than “fire-resistant”, and say where radiant heat reaches the run so sleeving can shield the cover and contain any spray.

Can you provide material and test certificates with a Luxembourg order?

Yes, where the order calls for them. Material certificates come from the mill and test certificates from our test bench in Dubai, and both are listed on the quotation so they are priced in rather than requested after delivery. Say on the enquiry which certificates your quality system or your end customer requires, and they travel with the goods.

Can a machine built in Luxembourg for a GOST market be plumbed from one order?

Yes. We hold GOST-pattern couplings alongside the DIN, BSP, JIC and ORFS ranges, so equipment built here for a market that specifies GOST can be plumbed from a single order instead of mixing local supply with a factory order. Send the destination specification and the hydraulic schematic, and we quote every end connection against it.

Should a small Luxembourg order wait for the next consignment?

Often, yes. There is no minimum order, but on a lane where goods sail for three weeks and then travel by road, consolidating usually saves more than speed gains. We will tell you when an item is better added to the next consignment; small mixed orders travel consolidated via a European hub in typically 30–38 days.
