The part is cheap and reaching it is not

A pitch or brake assembly costs very little against the vessel, the weather window and the technician time required to change it offshore. That inverts the usual economics completely: it is worth paying considerably more for a longer-lived component, and worth changing anything marginal while somebody is already up there rather than scheduling a second visit. It also means every assembly on the trip should be correct and identified before departure, because there is no second chance that day.
