Supplying Spain, in detail

Is Algeciras a gate or a hub for our consignment?

Both, and it matters which. Algeciras tranships an enormous volume of cargo that never enters Spain, and a box routed there for a Spanish delivery is often further from the customer than one discharged at Valencia. If your goods are for Spanish delivery we usually route Valencia or Barcelona; if they are staging onward we document them as staging rather than importing and re-exporting, which saves a customs round trip nobody needed.

Valencia or Barcelona — which port suits a delivery in Spain?

Valencia for Madrid, the east and the centre; Barcelona for Catalonia, Tarragona and anything continuing into southern France; Bilbao where the delivery is on the north coast. Full containers run from Jebel Ali to Valencia through Suez in typically 18–24 days, and small mixed orders travel consolidated, transhipped at Algeciras, in 24–32 days. We pick the port against the delivery town rather than the sailing schedule alone.

Can you deliver to the copper mines of the Iberian Pyrite Belt?

Yes, on DAP terms to the mine gate in Huelva or Seville province. The road leg from Huelva or Algeciras is priced with the order rather than estimated. Tell us the machine and the duty — shovel, haul truck, mill or flotation plant — and we specify dust-rated, high-cycle hose and fittings for that service instead of matching a part number alone.

When does it make sense for a Spanish buyer to import from Dubai rather than buy locally?

Rarely for a standard item — you should buy that locally. What we hold is the pattern for equipment being built in Spain for export, such as GOST couplings or API-monogrammed assemblies for a Gulf or Caspian contract, or a material grade such as SS316L that a local distributor orders in rather than stocks. If your enquiry is for a standard part, we will tell you so.

Must the invoice and packing list for Spanish Customs be in Spanish?

Yes. The description has to be in Spanish and agree across the invoice, the packing list and the customs declaration. We fix that wording at quotation, before the vessel sails, so the importer’s entry into free circulation at Valencia, Barcelona or Algeciras matches the paperwork exactly and nothing has to be re-described on arrival.

Which product documents come with an assembly cleared into Spain?

A declaration of conformity for any hose assembly above the pressure-volume threshold in PED 2014/68/EU, which travels with the goods; below the threshold, sound engineering practice applies and there is no CE mark. Every consignment also carries our REACH position on the elastomer compounds and a Dubai Chamber-attested Certificate of Origin. The importer raises the entry through Spanish Customs on arrival.

Can you supply metal hose for solar-thermal plants running heat transfer fluid?

Yes. Concentrated solar plants such as those in Andalusia and Extremadura circulate synthetic thermal fluid far above what any rubber construction tolerates, and the fluid searches out joints, so the answer is braided metallic hose with metal-to-metal sealing ends that still flexes as the collector tracks and expands. Spanish engineers building these plants for the Gulf should put the site ambient temperature in the specification alongside the fluid temperature.

Can you supply hydraulics for the steelworks in Asturias and around Bilbao?

Yes — high-force cylinders, servo valves and hose assemblies for the Avilés and Gijón works and the Basque electric-arc mills. Tell us the fluid designation rather than “fire-resistant”, because water-glycol and phosphate ester attack different compounds, and say where radiant heat reaches the run. Bilbao is the natural port for these deliveries when the berth suits; otherwise Valencia, with the road leg priced into a DAP quotation.

Do you supply deck and steering hydraulics for the Ferrol, Vigo and Cádiz yards?

Yes — hose assemblies, fittings and adapters for deck machinery, steering gear and winches on newbuild and repair work in Galicia and the Bay of Cádiz. Vigo is also home port to one of Europe’s largest fishing fleets, where winch hydraulics see salt water and long hours. Deliveries go by sea to Valencia, Algeciras or Bilbao and on by road, priced with the order.

Our plant near Madrid has a failed assembly — how fast can a replacement arrive by air?

Typically 2–4 days from Dubai to Madrid-Barajas, against 18–24 days by sea to Valencia. Air is worth it for a single assembly or a pattern part that nobody in Spain holds; for a standard item that has failed, a Spanish distributor will be quicker and we will say so. Send the old assembly’s markings and length and we confirm the build before it flies.

Is a quotation to Spain priced to the port or to our site?

Either, under Incoterms 2020. We quote CIF Valencia, DAP to your site with the road leg priced in, FOB Jebel Ali, or EXW Dubai for a forwarder you nominate. Give us the delivery town and whether the goods stay in Spain or move onward, and we choose the port against the town and settle the gate-or-hub question before anything sails.

Do you supply lay flat hose for irrigation and boreholes in Spain?

Yes. PVC and TPU lay flat hose goes to Spain for irrigation mains and pump discharge, and TPU flexible riser hose for borehole pumps, with stainless riser couplings and winding equipment for installing and recovering pumps. Hose ships from Dubai as bulk coils up to 400 m or as made-up assemblies with couplings fitted, with the size table and pressure rating for each bore.
