Supplying Sierra Leone, in detail

What paperwork does a Freetown import of hydraulic parts need from Dubai?

Three items gate the shipment: pre-shipment inspection of regulated goods by the appointed inspection body before the vessel sails, an import licence where the product requires one, raised by the consignee with the ministry, and a Dubai Chamber attested Certificate of Origin. The bill of lading and packing list follow on loading, and material and test certificates are added where the order calls for them.

Does every product shipped to Sierra Leone need an import licence?

No. Some products need one and most do not, and we confirm at quotation which lines on your list are affected. Where a licence applies, the consignee raises it with the ministry before shipment, so it is worth flagging early: the container does not load until the licence is in hand, and a late licence costs a sailing rather than a day.

Are Sierra Leone shipping documents prepared in English?

Yes. Sierra Leone clears on English-language documentation, which keeps this lane simpler than the francophone lanes into neighbouring Guinea and the Sahel, where invoices and packing lists must be in French. Our commercial invoice, packing list, Certificate of Origin and any test certificates are issued in English and matched to the inspection before the vessel sails.

Why is Freetown four to five weeks from Jebel Ali by sea?

Because the routing runs around the Cape of Good Hope. FCL typically takes 30–36 days from dispatch; consolidated LCL, with transshipment, runs 36–44 days and suits small mixed orders. When a line is down, air freight from DXB into Lungi (FNA) takes six to eight days and is quoted per shipment, so the cost can be weighed against the downtime.

Should equipment for Sierra Leone land at Freetown or at Pepel?

Freetown is the default port of entry for general cargo and for CIF terms. Pepel, across the estuary, serves the bulk terminals, so it is worth naming when the equipment is for ore-handling plant there. Tell us where the goods are finally needed and we quote the port that gives the shorter, simpler last leg rather than defaulting to one.

Which mining spares do you ship for Sierra Leone's iron ore, rutile and diamond operations?

Slurry valves, four-spiral hose, high-cycle cylinders and crusher-duty components make up most of the volume. Iron ore around Marampa and Tonkolili wears hose and cylinders on loaders and haul trucks; rutile operations in the south need slurry valves and abrasion-resistant hose; diamond processing at Koidu runs crusher and screen hydraulics. Material certificates are supplied where the contract calls for them.

Can you deliver to the mine gate at Koidu, Marampa or Kabala?

Yes, on DAP terms to the site gate. The inland leg from Freetown is quoted rather than estimated, because Koidu and Kabala are a long way from the quay. Give us the site name and the receiving contact at quotation, and the inland transport is priced and documented alongside the sea freight, so one quotation covers Jebel Ali to the mine.

Do hose assemblies for Sierra Leone arrive crimped and pressure-tested?

Yes. Assemblies are crimped and pressure-tested in our Dubai bay and shipped as finished items, tagged with the hose, the fittings and the test date. Where a site has no crimping capability it can rely on, a finished assembly is a safer purchase than bulk hose and loose ends. Send lengths and end configurations, or the old assembly, and the tag lets the next one be reordered by reference.

Can you supply wire rope slings to length for Sierra Leone's ore terminals and mine workshops?

Yes. Wire rope and chain slings are supplied to the length, leg count and working load limit you specify, with shackles, hooks and master links, each marked with its working load limit and shipped with its test certificate. For ore handling at Pepel or workshops inland, give us the load, the sling angle and the hook arrangement and we propose the assembly.
