Supplying Namibia, in detail

How long does shipping take from Dubai to Walvis Bay?

Typically 18 to 25 days for a full container from Jebel Ali around the Cape into Walvis Bay. Small mixed orders consolidated via Cape Town take 24 to 32 days. Air freight to Windhoek via Johannesburg takes six to eight days, for when a line is down. Documents are prepared before the container loads, so clearance can start on arrival.

Why route through Walvis Bay rather than Durban?

For Namibian deliveries it is the shorter road leg by far: Windhoek, Swakopmund and the Erongo mines are a short run from the quay. Walvis Bay is also a corridor port, with the Trans-Kalahari road running east to Gaborone and Gauteng and the Trans-Caprivi running north-east to Zambia and the Copperbelt.

Does SACU membership help if our sites cross the border?

Yes. Namibia is in the Southern African Customs Union, so a consignment cleared at Walvis Bay moves on to Botswana or South Africa without a second customs entry. That makes one shipment into Walvis Bay a practical way to serve sites on both sides of the border, and we prepare documents for the onward corridor as well.

Which documents does Namibian customs need for hydraulic equipment?

The formalities are light: a SACU customs declaration lodged by the consignee or clearing agent on arrival, and an import permit only where the product requires one, arranged by the consignee with the ministry before shipment. The goods carry a Certificate of Origin attested by the Dubai Chamber, a bill of lading and packing list, and material certificates where ordered.

Can you supply the uranium mines at Rössing and Husab?

Yes. Rössing and Husab are about an hour from Walvis Bay. We supply high-cycle cylinders, four-spiral hose, dust-rated valves and crusher-duty components, with material certificates where the contract calls for them. DAP to the mine is quoted with the short road leg from the port included.

Do you supply equipment for Orange Basin offshore exploration?

Yes, to the contractor rather than the operator. We supply API 6A and API 16C rated equipment, choke and kill hose and NACE MR0175 documentation where the contract requires it, including TechnipFMC, Cameron (SLB), SPM, Anson, Stream-Flo and WOM equipment. Material and test certificates travel with the consignment.

Do you supply marine diamond-mining and fishing vessels at Walvis Bay?

Yes. We supply deck crane, winch and steering hydraulics, hose assemblies and marine-grade fittings for vessels working from Walvis Bay and Lüderitz, including the offshore diamond-mining fleet and the fishing fleet. Yes, on DAP terms. Katima Mulilo and the Copperbelt are reached along the Trans-Caprivi corridor from Walvis Bay, Tsumeb and the north by the B1. These legs are long and are quoted rather than estimated, and documents for any onward border crossing are prepared before the container loads.
