Supplying the United States, in detail

Should a US plant order a standard JIC or NPT fitting from you?

No. American industrial distribution is the deepest in the world, and for a plant in Texas or Pennsylvania that needs a JIC, NPT or code 61 part tomorrow, the distributor down the road is the right answer. We are supplied from Dubai, and we will say so rather than quote against a domestic stock item. This page covers the cases where Dubai genuinely is the better answer.

Our rig is in West Africa — why supply it from Dubai rather than from Houston?

Because the rig is closer to Jebel Ali than to Houston. Shipping a part to Houston and then on to Angola or Nigeria pays for the Atlantic twice. Tell us where the equipment actually is and we quote the direct lane from Dubai to that field, with the destination’s own document set, while your US office keeps the purchase order and the paperwork.

We are building a skid in Houston for a Gulf or Caspian contract — what can you supply?

The destination’s pattern, held as stock. Packages built in Houston for a Gulf, Caspian or African contract have to be plumbed to that market’s standard — GOST couplings, DIN 2353 bite-type fittings, BSP threads — and those are catalogue items for us but factory orders locally. API-monogrammed assemblies to the end user’s specification come on the same order.

An imported machine arrived with fittings nobody locally can match — can you identify them?

Usually, yes. A DIN 2353 bite-type in an unusual tube size, a BSP taper in a large diameter or a GOST coupling on an imported machine is routine for us, because the markets we serve run on them daily. Send a photograph of the fitting with a caliper reading of the thread and seat, and that is normally enough to identify it and quote.

Which API-monogrammed equipment can you supply for an export package?

API 6A wellhead, API 16A BOP, API 16C choke and kill and API 7K drilling hose, with monogram and licence documentation from the manufacturer confirmed per product at quotation. We supply TechnipFMC, Cameron (SLB), SPM, Anson, Stream-Flo and WOM equipment, and we say plainly at quotation if an item on the list does not carry the monogram the contract names.

Can sour-service certificates be traced back to the heat number for our data book?

Yes, where the contract requires it. Sour-service material documentation to NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156, with material certificates traceable to heat number from the mill or our test bench, is confirmed at quotation and issued before dispatch rather than produced afterwards — so the package builder can file it with the data book before the skid ships.

Will you act as importer of record for a US shipment?

No — you or your nominated customs broker act as importer of record. We supply the commercial invoice, packing list, Dubai Chamber attested certificate of origin and material certificates; the entry itself is raised on your side. If the goods are only passing through on their way to an overseas site, shipping them direct usually avoids the entry altogether.

How long is the sea lane from Jebel Ali to Houston, and when does it make sense?

Typically 32–40 days, because it crosses Suez and the Atlantic. That is the wrong trade for a domestic requirement and the right one for planned packages: fittings and assemblies booked against a fabrication schedule weeks ahead of the skid’s assembly date. Savannah and New York serve buyers on the east coast, routed at quotation.

Can you air-freight an urgent GOST or DIN part into Houston?

Yes — typically 3–6 days from Dubai into Houston IAH, with a connection. Air makes sense when a package is held on one non-SAE fitting that nobody in the US stocks, or a line is down for want of it. Confirm the importer of record and broker when you order, so the entry is ready before the flight lands.

Do you quote CIF Houston or deliver to our fabrication yard?

Both. We quote CIF Houston, DAP to the buyer’s site — a fabrication yard on the Gulf Coast, for example — FOB Jebel Ali, or EXW Dubai for a nominated forwarder. For goods bound for an overseas field we quote that destination directly instead, because routing them through a US port first only adds cost.
