Supplying Armenia, in detail

Why does Armenia need EAC documents when Georgia, on the same corridor, does not?

Because Armenia is a member of the Eurasian Economic Union and Georgia is not. The EAC declaration or certificate of conformity applies to Armenian imports and is raised by an accredited body in the importer’s name before anything else moves — the same framework Kazakhstan works under. Georgia needs none of it. Because the two countries share the same corridor and the same port, getting this backwards is the commonest error on this lane.

Why is Poti and Sadakhlo the only route you quote into Armenia?

Because it is the only usable one. Two of Armenia’s four land borders are closed, and the alternatives either cross jurisdictions we will not route through without an export-compliance ruling or are not commercially served. Cargo sails from Jebel Ali through Suez to Poti and comes south by road through the Sadakhlo–Bagratashen crossing. Quoting an option we would not actually use would be worse than admitting there is one road.

What transit should a Yerevan buyer plan around?

Typically 26–34 days from dispatch for sea to Poti and road south, and 32–42 days for a small mixed order consolidated to Poti before the road leg. Air freight from Dubai to Yerevan takes 3–5 days and is the answer when a line is down. The sea time to Poti is predictable; the Georgian transit clearance, the drive south and the border at Bagratashen make up the rest of the figure.

Why does a shipment to Armenia take longer than one to Georgia?

Because it is the Georgian lane plus a road leg and a second customs file. The sea time to Poti is identical. The difference is the Georgian transit documents for the road leg, the drive south to the border and the Armenian entry at Bagratashen. That is why the transit documents are prepared alongside the EAC file before the vessel sails, rather than started once the container is already standing at Poti.

Can you deliver to the Syunik mines at Kajaran and Kapan?

Yes, on DAP terms to the mine gate at Kajaran or Kapan. It is a long road leg south from the Bagratashen border through the length of the country, so it is quoted rather than estimated. For shovel, haul-truck and mill hydraulics, send the machine model and the position along with the part number or a photograph, so assemblies arrive ready to fit rather than needing rework at a remote site.

What must be in place before goods leave Dubai for Armenia?

Confirmation that the EAC documentation is in place in your name and covers the goods — it cannot be arranged after arrival. We also need the delivery address, so the Georgian transit documents for the road leg match the destination, and the importer details for the customs declaration. With those settled the file is complete before the vessel sails, and you receive the paperwork and the tracking together.

Can goods for Armenia clear customs in Georgia instead?

No. Goods bound for Armenia cross Georgia under transit documents prepared by the forwarder at Poti, and the import entry is made in Armenia. Clearing them into Georgia would put them into the wrong customs territory — Georgia is outside the Eurasian Economic Union — and the EAC file raised for the Armenian importer would no longer match the consignment. Tell us at enquiry that Armenia is the destination, so the file is built for it.

Should an Armenian buyer purchase CIF Poti or DAP to site?

DAP to your site if you want one party responsible through the Georgian transit and the road south; CIF Poti if you have a forwarder who already runs the road leg and the border at Bagratashen. Either way the EAC documentation must be in your name before the goods move. FOB Jebel Ali and EXW Dubai for a nominated forwarder are also available on this lane.

What does the importer lodge with the State Revenue Committee?

The customs import declaration, lodged by the importer through the State Revenue Committee before the goods arrive at the border. It sits alongside the EAC documents in your name. We supply what it is built from: commercial invoice and packing list, a Dubai Chamber attested certificate of origin, and material and test certificates from the mill or our test bench where the order calls for them. Descriptions match across every document.

Can urgent parts go by air to Yerevan while the rest of the order travels by sea?

Yes. The item that is stopping a machine can fly from Dubai to Yerevan in 3–5 days while the balance travels by sea to Poti and road south, typically 26–34 days. Both parts of the order still need EAC documentation that covers the goods, raised in your name, so tell us at quotation which lines are urgent and we split the consignment and its documents from the start.
