Supplying Indonesia, in detail

What is SNI and who arranges it for our order?

SNI is the Indonesian national standard: mandatory for a defined list of products and voluntary elsewhere. Where a line sits on the mandatory list, the marking is obtained at origin through an accredited certification body before the container is loaded, because it has to exist before the goods arrive. Where a line is outside the list there is nothing to obtain. The part list decides which, so send it at quotation.

Why do you ask for our importer identification number before you ship?

Because the licence category attached to it has to cover the goods, and it is the first gate in the file. If the category does not cover what is on the invoice, the consignment cannot clear however complete the rest of the documents are. We check it against the part list before the order is confirmed, which is far cheaper than discovering a mismatch with a container sitting at Tanjung Priok.

Is API-U the same as the API monogram on oilfield equipment?

No, and the two are easy to confuse on an Indonesian order. API-U refers to the importer identification number and its licence category, which the importer holds and which must cover the goods. The API monogram belongs to the American Petroleum Institute and marks equipment built to standards such as API 6A. An oilfield order often needs both, and we ask for each separately at quotation.

Why does the delivery island change the quotation so much?

Because only Java and Sumatra are on the direct sailing. Tanjung Priok typically takes 18–24 days from Jebel Ali; Balikpapan, Dumai and Sorong are reached by transhipment onto a domestic feeder at 26–36 days, and Makassar and Banjarmasin are fed the same way. Landing at Jakarta and reconsigning later adds handling and time, so name the town where the goods are used, not the country.

Can you deliver to coal mine sites in East and South Kalimantan?

Yes, on DAP terms to the base or the site gate. Goods reach Balikpapan or Banjarmasin on the outer-island leg, and the road or river leg beyond is quoted rather than estimated, because road conditions and the wet season move it materially. Give us the site name, the gate-entry requirements and the receiving contact, and the quotation will state the full route to the pit.

Can you supply the nickel processing parks at Morowali and Weda Bay?

Yes. Morowali in Central Sulawesi and Weda Bay in North Maluku are well beyond the direct sailing, so the leg from the gateway port is quoted per consignment rather than estimated. Smelter and processing plant runs hot, dusty and continuous, so we specify hose, fittings and seals for temperature and cycle life as well as pressure, and pack each consignment by plant area for a single onward movement.

Which oilfield equipment do you supply for Indonesian fields and refineries?

We supply equipment to API 6A for wellheads, API 16A for BOPs, API 16C for choke and kill and API 7K for drilling hose, with NACE MR0175 material documentation where the contract requires it; monogram status is confirmed per item at quotation. We supply TechnipFMC, Cameron (SLB), SPM, Anson, Stream-Flo and WOM equipment, so wellhead parts and flow iron for Riau, Kalimantan or Papua work can ship with hydraulic hose.

Do you ship to Surabaya and the East Java industrial estates?

Yes. Surabaya is on Java, but it is not the same answer as Jakarta: depending on the sailing, landing at Tanjung Priok and moving goods along Java can be slower than routing to the nearest port. We do not assume the gateway; name the delivery estate and we confirm the port and routing at quotation, so the container is not reconsigned after it arrives.

Which customs declaration clears the goods, and who lodges it?

The PIB import declaration, lodged by the importer through Bea Cukai before arrival. It rests on documents we prepare: commercial invoice and packing list, a Dubai Chamber attested Certificate of Origin before dispatch, SNI marking evidence for lines on the mandatory list, and material and test certificates where the order calls for them. Descriptions that match across all of them, and match the licence category, keep it from being queried.

Can you build replacement hose assemblies for haul trucks and loaders in Indonesia?

Yes. Assemblies are crimped in Dubai, pressure-tested and tagged with the hose, fitting and test date, then shipped as finished items. On a lane where an outer-island site is five weeks away, that tag is what matters: a repeat order is placed by reference and arrives identical to the original. Send the machine model, the bore, thread and pressure, and the length between fitting faces.

Do you supply slings, shackles and rigging gear for Indonesian mines and ports?

Yes. Wire rope and chain slings, shackles, hooks and rigging hardware ship marked with their working load limit and with the manufacturer’s test certificates the order calls for. Whether a lifting line sits on the mandatory SNI list, and whether your licence category covers it, is checked at quotation with the rest of the order. Inspection on site stays with your appointed lifting inspector.

When does air freight into Jakarta make sense?

For a line that is down, yes: three to five days from DXB to CGK against 18–24 days by sea, and longer again for the outer islands. For a scheduled shutdown it rarely does, because the licence check and any SNI marking do not move faster for arriving by air, and a site beyond Java still needs its domestic leg from Jakarta.
