Supplying Senegal, in detail

How long does shipping from Dubai to Dakar take?

Full-container sea freight from Jebel Ali to Dakar typically takes 28–35 days from dispatch, because the routing is around the Cape of Good Hope. Small mixed orders shipped LCL, consolidated with transshipment, take 34–42 days. When a line is down, air freight from DXB to Dakar (DSS) takes five to seven days and is quoted per shipment.

Which documents are needed to import into Senegal?

The consignee raises the import declaration (DPI) through the bank before the vessel sails, and regulated goods are verified by the appointed inspection body before shipment. We supply the invoice and packing list in French and a certificate of origin attested by the Dubai Chamber, plus material and test certificates where the order calls for them.

Do the documents have to be in French for Senegal?

Yes, and they have to agree with each other. The invoice, packing list and declaration must describe the same items against the same tariff lines; a description that differs between them is the commonest cause of delay at Dakar. We fix the French technical wording at quotation and carry it through every document.

Can you supply Sangomar and the offshore gas projects?

Yes, as a supplier to the operator’s contractors. We supply API 6A, API 16C and NACE MR0175 rated equipment with manufacturer certificates of conformity and material certificates, shipped to Dakar for the shorebase. We supply TechnipFMC, Cameron (SLB), SPM, Anson, Stream-Flo and WOM equipment, alongside high-pressure hose and fittings.

Can you provide the certificates a project specification calls for?

Yes, on request, and it is best agreed at the enquiry. When an item is bought against a written specification, what has to arrive is the part and the evidence: a certificate of conformity, the standard it was built to, and a document trail that survives an audit. We also tell you where a requested certificate does not exist for that class of product.

Can you supply the gold operations in eastern Senegal?

Yes. Four-spiral hose for haul trucks and excavators, high-cycle cylinders, slurry valves and crusher-duty components are the core of what goes to the Kédougou region, with material certificates where the contract calls for them. Assemblies arrive crimped, tested and tagged, which matters on sites a long way from a hose workshop.

Can you deliver to Kédougou and Sabodala?

Yes, on DAP terms to the mine gate. The inland leg from Dakar through Tambacounda is long, so it is quoted rather than estimated, and the delivery point is named on the document set from the start. Where the schedule is tight, air freight into Dakar followed by road is quoted as an alternative.

Can you route cargo on to Mali through Dakar?

Yes. Dakar is the head of the Bamako corridor, and the transit documents are raised with the invoice rather than after arrival. Tell us at quotation that the consignment is moving on to Mali, with the final consignee and site, so the declaration and the transit papers describe the same goods from the outset.

Do you make up hose assemblies to length before dispatch for Senegal?

Yes. Assemblies are cut, crimped and pressure-tested in Dubai and shipped as finished items, each tagged with the hose, the fittings and the test date. For project packages the test records can be supplied with the shipment, and the tag lets the maintenance team reorder the identical assembly later.

How do I request a quotation from Senegal?

Send the part list or specification, the delivery point (Dakar, a named site in Senegal, or onward to Mali) and the certificates your contract requires. We quote in USD on CIF Dakar, DAP to site, FOB Jebel Ali or EXW Dubai for your forwarder, and agree the French descriptions and tariff lines at the same time.
