Vegetable oil is not mineral oil to a seal

Elastomers are chosen against the fluid they will meet, and a compound perfectly stable in mineral hydraulic oil can swell or harden in vegetable esters. It matters wherever plant handles palm or other biologically derived oils, and it matters again where a machine has been converted to a biodegradable hydraulic fluid without anyone revisiting the seals and hoses that were specified for the old one. Conversions are where this usually bites, because nothing is replaced and the failure arrives months later looking like ordinary wear. Tell us the actual fluid, not the category, and we will specify the compound against it.
