Why is the paperwork slower than the freight to Eritrea?

Because the import licence and the foreign exchange approval both come before shipment, not after it. The consignee obtains the licence with the ministry and the exchange approval through its bank. The sea leg to Massawa is only ten to fourteen days, so in practice the permissions, rather than the voyage or the picking in Dubai, decide when goods arrive.

What do you need from an Eritrean buyer to start an order?

The part list and the consignee’s registered details. With those we issue a quotation in a form the import licence application and the foreign exchange approval can be made against. The invoice and packing list are issued in the consignee’s registered name, so it helps to send the details exactly as registered. We then hold the order until both permissions are granted.

Which documents are needed to import hydraulic equipment into Eritrea?

An import licence, obtained by the consignee with the ministry, and a foreign exchange approval from the consignee’s bank, both before shipment. We then supply a Certificate of Origin attested by the Dubai Chamber and the invoice and packing list in the consignee’s registered name, with material and test certificates from the mill or our test bench where the order calls for them.

Should cargo go to Massawa or Assab?

Massawa for Asmara, Keren and the north: typically 10–14 days from Jebel Ali. Assab for deliveries in the Southern Red Sea region, at 12–16 days, because it saves a long inland leg. If your site sits between the two, tell us the delivery point at quotation and we price the route that keeps the inland distance shortest.

Can you supply Eritrea’s copper, zinc, gold and potash mines?

Yes. Dust-rated valves, four-spiral hose, high-cycle cylinders and crusher-duty components, with material certificates where the contract calls for them. That covers the copper-zinc operations around Bisha in Gash-Barka, the copper-gold projects near Asmara and the potash development at Colluli. On this lane it pays to order mating seals and fittings with the main item.

Is air freight into Asmara available?

Yes, typically three to five days from Dubai to Asmara, quoted per shipment. It suits a mine or plant that is down, although the import licence and exchange approval, not the freight, are usually the real constraint, so it is worth starting the permissions as early as possible. Planned orders normally travel by sea to Massawa.

Why is the Eritrea lane quoted per consignment rather than on a schedule?

Because Massawa does not have the regular scheduled sailings of a major hub, so a consignment depends on what is running that week. Goods are usually ready in Dubai before the vessel is, and where a sailing will not meet the requirement we price air as well. The quotation states the Incoterm: CIF Massawa, DAP to site, FOB Jebel Ali or EXW Dubai.

Do you crimp hose assemblies before shipping to Eritrea?

Yes. Assemblies are crimped and pressure-tested in Dubai and shipped as finished items, tagged with the hose, the fittings and the test date. Specify the hose to SAE J517, EN 853, EN 856 or ISO 18752 with the end fittings and cut length, and assemblies for haul trucks, excavators and crushers arrive at Massawa ready to fit.

Yes. Deck machinery and crane hydraulics, industrial hose for terminal handling, and lifting and rigging gear such as shackles, slings and chain are standard supply.
