Supplying the Dominican Republic, in detail

How long from dispatch in Dubai until cargo reaches Caucedo?

Typically 30–38 days by sea from dispatch for a full container through Suez and across the Atlantic. LCL runs 36–48 days because it is consolidated and transhipped, which suits small mixed orders. Air freight from DXB to Las Américas in Santo Domingo takes 4–7 days with connections, for the machine that is stopped and cannot wait for a vessel.

Our plant is in a Dominican free zone — does that change the shipment?

Yes, and it is the first thing to settle. Goods admitted to a zone have not entered the country's customs territory, so the file is a free-zone admission arranged with the zone operator rather than an import entry through the DGA. The duty treatment differs too. Converting one into the other after arrival is expensive, so tell us at quotation which applies.

Who should be named as consignee on a Dominican shipment?

The free-zone operator, if the goods are for a zone manufacturer, or the domestic importer who will raise the DGA declaration — and it must be settled before the container is loaded. The consignee decides whether the file is a zone admission or an import entry, and converting between them after arrival costs time and duty. Tell us at quotation and the documents are raised to match.

Is there a conformity scheme industrial hose must pass before entering the Dominican Republic?

No — there is no blanket pre-shipment conformity scheme for industrial hose and fittings. The file is the DGA declaration or the zone admission, the invoice and a packing list in Spanish that matches it, and the Dubai Chamber attested certificate of origin. Material and test certificates are added where the specification calls for them, and we confirm the full set at quotation.

How should the invoice and packing list read for a DGA declaration?

In Spanish, with the product description agreeing across the invoice, the packing list and the declaration the importer raises through the DGA. We prepare the Spanish packing list before the vessel sails so the declaration can be lodged before arrival. For a zone consignee the same consistency applies to the free-zone admission — a mismatched description is the commonest reason a container waits.

Can you deliver to the Bonao ferronickel plant?

Yes, on DAP terms to the plant gate. The road leg north from Caucedo past Santo Domingo is priced with the order rather than estimated. For furnace and materials-handling duty, give us the temperature and abrasion conditions along with the bore and pressure, because a hose rated for the pressure alone is rarely what survives a ferronickel plant.

Do you supply hose and fittings for the gold-mining fleets around Cotuí?

Yes — hose assemblies, fittings and adapters for haul trucks, loaders, drills and processing-plant maintenance in the Sánchez Ramírez gold district, made up in Dubai to the lengths and end fittings on your list. Is Caucedo the right port if our cargo continues to another Caribbean island?

Often, yes. Caucedo tranships for the wider Caribbean as well as serving the Dominican Republic, so cargo staging onward should be documented as staging from the outset rather than imported and re-exported. Tell us the final destination at quotation, and the file and the packing are prepared for the onward leg rather than for Dominican entry.

Is Dubai competitive with Florida suppliers for Dominican mines and plants?

For a standard item, Florida is closer and often right. What we hold is the pattern or the duty-specific compound as stock — for a mine or plant with a shutdown calendar that is worth more than the freight difference. A consolidated consignment planned five weeks ahead also lands with its Spanish documents complete, which matters as much as the parts.
