The Caspian is enclosed, so equipment for an offshore field there reaches it by road, rail or air rather than by ship, and the marine leg everyone assumes exists simply does not. Sea freight is not a cheaper slower option here; for practical purposes it is not an option at all. That removes the usual sea-versus-air trade-off and replaces it with a routing question, which is worth settling at the enquiry rather than at booking. Dimensions and weight matter more than they would elsewhere, because everything travels overland to the shore base.
