Supplying Egypt, in detail

Why is Ain Sokhna the fastest sea route from Dubai to Egypt?

Because Ain Sokhna is on the Gulf of Suez, south of the canal, so a vessel from Jebel Ali reaches it without a canal transit — typically 8–12 days from dispatch. Alexandria and Damietta sit on the Mediterranean and are reached through Suez in 14–18 days. For Cairo, Suez and the Red Sea coast, Ain Sokhna is usually both the shorter sea leg and the shorter road leg.

What is an ACID number and who raises it?

ACID is the advance cargo declaration number on the Nafeza platform. The importer raises it against the specific consignment, and we supply the exporter details and line-by-line description it needs. The invoice, packing list and shipping documents must carry the ACID number when the container is loaded, so send the importer’s details at quotation and the registration runs while the order is picked.

What happens if a container sails without an ACID number?

It is refused rather than delayed. Egypt treats advance cargo information as a condition of loading, not a formality to catch up at the port, so a consignment without the ACID number on its documents cannot simply be cleared late. That is why the registration comes before we book the container, never after, and why an Egypt order does not load until the number is confirmed.

Does the exporter need to be registered with GOEIC?

Yes. The exporter has to be registered with the General Organization for Export and Import Control for the goods concerned, and that registration sits behind the ACID process. It is done once and then extended per product scope, and we handle it from Dubai. If an order includes product lines outside our registered scope, we say so at quotation rather than discovering it at loading.

Which documents travel with a shipment to Egypt?

The invoice and packing list carrying the ACID number, a Certificate of Origin attested by Dubai Chamber, and material and test certificates where the order calls for them. The ACID number itself is raised on Nafeza by the importer, with our GOEIC registration behind it. Everything is prepared in Dubai before the container loads, so the document set matches the registration exactly.

Should we ship to Ain Sokhna, Alexandria or Damietta?

Ain Sokhna for Cairo, Suez, the Sokhna industrial zone and the Red Sea oil coast, at 8–12 days by sea. Alexandria or Damietta for the Delta, Borg El Arab, the Idku area and western deliveries, at 14–18 days through Suez. A few extra days at sea are often outweighed by a shorter inland leg, so we quote the routing that reaches your site soonest.

How fast can you air-freight to Cairo when a line is down?

Typically 3–5 days from dispatch, flown from DXB to Cairo. Air is for line-down orders: a failed hose assembly, a seal kit, a replacement valve. For planned stock it rarely pays on this lane, so we usually suggest consolidating hose, fittings and adapters into one sea shipment and keeping a spare of each critical assembly on site rather than expediting the next failure.

Can you deliver to the Western Desert fields and the Gulf of Suez?

Yes, on DAP terms to the site gate. Western Desert deliveries land at Alexandria or Ain Sokhna and move inland by road, while Ras Gharib and Ras Shukheir are reached down the Red Sea coast from Ain Sokhna. The inland leg is quoted rather than estimated, and site access requirements should come with the order so the truck is not turned back at the gate.

Can you supply to refinery and LNG specifications?

Yes. We supply API 6A and API 16C rated items and NACE MR0175 material for sour service, with material certificates, plus SS316L fittings and tube for process service. That covers the duty found at the refineries around Alexandria, Suez and Assiut and at the Idku and Damietta LNG plants, quoted line by line against the specification in the tender.

Do you deliver to 10th of Ramadan, Sadat City and Borg El Arab?

Yes. These are Egypt’s main manufacturing cities, and we deliver DAP to the factory gate. 10th of Ramadan is closest to Ain Sokhna; Sadat City and Borg El Arab are usually better served through Alexandria. We quote the port and the road leg together on one Estimate, so the delivered terms are clear before the ACID number is raised.

Do you make up hose assemblies to length for Egypt?

Yes. Assemblies are crimped to length and pressure-tested in Dubai and shipped as finished items, tagged with the hose, the fitting and the test date. On a sea lane that matters: an assembly that arrives ready to fit saves sourcing crimp fittings locally, and the tag lets your maintenance team reorder exactly the same build for the next consolidated shipment.

How do I request a quotation from Egypt?

Send the part list, the delivery site and the importer’s details together. We quote in USD, line by line, with CIF Ain Sokhna, DAP to site, FOB Jebel Ali or EXW Dubai stated on the Estimate, and the importer can start the ACID registration against it straight away. Dispatch dates are confirmed on the quotation against stock rather than assumed.
