Hydraulic & industrial hose supplier in Panama

Indus Hydraulics ships hydraulic, industrial and marine hose equipment from Dubai to Panama by sea through Suez to Colón, or Balboa on the Pacific side, in typically 32–40 days, and by air into Panama City in 4–7. The deciding question is settled before the vessel sails: is the consignment entering Panama on a customs declaration, or staging in the Colón Free Zone for onward dispatch? Most of what we send works on tugs, line-handling winches, terminal cranes and bunkering vessels around the canal, where surge loading rather than steady pressure sets the specification.

How an order to Panama works

  1. 01Send the part numbers, or the bore, thread and pressure if you do not have them. A photo of the failed part is usually enough.
  2. 02We quote in USD against real stock, with the Incoterm stated on the Estimate rather than assumed.
  3. 03Whether the consignment is entering Panama or staging in the Free Zone is settled before it ships, because the two are different files and converting one into the other afterwards is expensive.
  4. 04Goods sail from Jebel Ali through Suez and across the Atlantic, and you get the paperwork and tracking together.

Questions we get asked

Supplying Panama, in detail

01

How long is the sea voyage from Jebel Ali to Colón, and when does air make sense?

A full container from Jebel Ali to Colón via Suez and across the Atlantic typically takes 32–40 days from dispatch. Consolidated LCL runs 40–50 days because it is transhipped, so it suits small mixed orders rather than anything a vessel is waiting on. When a line is down, air freight from DXB to Tocumen in Panama City takes 4–7 days with connections.

02

What is the Colón Free Zone and does it help us?

It lets goods be landed, stored and re-dispatched without entering Panamanian customs territory. If your cargo is staying in Panama it makes no difference to you. If you are staging stock for Central America or the northern South American coast, it is the reason to route through Colón at all — and the Free Zone documentation is raised by the Zone operator on arrival, so we need to know before we ship.

03

Can you ship stock into the Colón Free Zone for onward dispatch to Central America?

Yes, and for regional buyers it is often the right structure. Tell us at quotation, because the file differs from the outset: goods held in the Zone can be re-dispatched onward on their own documentation, while goods imported and then re-exported have paid for a round trip through the customs system they did not need. Converting one into the other after arrival is possible, and expensive.

04

Should our cargo be routed to Colón or to Balboa?

Colón for Atlantic-side cargo and the Free Zone; Balboa for the Pacific side and Panama City. The two are a short move apart across the isthmus, but the file is raised against one of them, so name the delivery point at quotation. Manzanillo and Cristóbal sit on the Colón side, and DAP to your site is quoted as a single price including the road leg.

05

Beyond the Aduanas declaration, does Panama require a product conformity certificate?

No. There is no general pre-shipment conformity scheme for industrial hose and fittings. The file is the customs declaration raised by the importer through Aduanas, the invoice and a packing list in Spanish that matches it, the Dubai Chamber attested certificate of origin, and Colón Free Zone documentation where the cargo is staging onward. Material and test certificates are added where the order calls for them.

06

Do the invoice and packing list have to be in Spanish for Panamanian customs?

Yes. Documents are in Spanish, and the product description has to agree across the invoice, the packing list and the declaration — a hose described one way on the packing list and another on the declaration is what holds a consignment at the port. We prepare the packing list before the vessel sails, so the importer's declaration can be raised against it before arrival.

07

Do you supply hose for tug winches and line-handling equipment on the canal?

Yes — deck, winch and terminal hydraulics are a large part of what moves on this lane. Towing and mooring lines see surges as a line comes taut, brief but far above the nominal working pressure and repeated thousands of times a season. So we specify impulse-rated construction and correct crimp retention rather than matching the part number alone. Send the duty cycle with the specification and we quote against both.

08

Which hose standards can you supply against for vessels and terminals in Panama?

We supply hydraulic hose to SAE J517 100R series, EN 853 and EN 856 spiral constructions and ISO 18752 pressure classes, with JIC, ORFS, BSP and metric fittings to match what is fitted. Vessels calling at Panama come from every flag and builder, so mixed thread forms on one machine are normal; send the fitting identification and we match it rather than substitute a near-equivalent.

09

Can hose for terminal cranes at Colón and Balboa arrive as finished assemblies?

Yes. Assemblies are cut, crimped and tagged in Dubai to the lengths and end fittings on your list, so a crane or straddle-carrier crew fits them rather than building them on the quay. Give us the bore, length, fitting orientation and working pressure for each line; for anything on a hoist or spreader circuit, give the duty too, because snatch loading changes the hose we select.

10

Can you supply lifting gear for ship-repair and terminal work in Colón?

Yes. We supply wire rope and synthetic slings, shackles, hooks and chain fittings with the manufacturer's test certificate and the working load limit marked. What a terminal's or yard's own inspector requires beyond that is confirmed at quotation. Lifting gear can share a container with the hydraulics, so a single consignment and a single document set reach Colón or Balboa.
