Supplying Vietnam, in detail

Cai Mep or Hai Phong — which port fits our plant?

The port at your end of the country. Cai Mep–Thi Vai serves Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Ba Ria–Vung Tau and the Mekong Delta; Hai Phong serves Hanoi, Bac Ninh, Thai Nguyen and Quang Ninh. They are about 1,700 km apart by road, so landing at the wrong one costs a second freight bill rather than a few days. Name the delivery town at enquiry and we fix the port against it.

How many days should a Vietnamese buyer allow for a container from Jebel Ali?

Typically 18–24 days from dispatch for a full container, routed through the Strait of Malacca. Small mixed orders shipped LCL are consolidated with transhipment and take 24–32 days. Air freight from DXB to Ho Chi Minh City (SGN) or Hanoi (HAN) takes 3–5 days and suits a line that is down. Because the conformity file is light, freight is most of the timeline once the order is confirmed.

When does a Vietnamese order need a declaration of conformity?

Only where a specific line falls under a Vietnamese technical regulation. There is no blanket pre-shipment certification scheme for industrial hose, fittings and adapters, so most orders need no conformity document at all. Where a line is regulated, we prepare the declaration of conformity at origin before the vessel sails. Otherwise the file is the commercial invoice, the packing list, the Dubai Chamber attested Certificate of Origin and a clean customs declaration.

Which documents does a Vietnamese importer clear our goods with?

The importer’s customs declaration, filed through Vietnam Customs before the goods arrive, backed by our document set; import tax and VAT are settled at clearance. We supply what the declaration rests on: the commercial invoice and packing list, the Certificate of Origin attested by the Dubai Chamber, the declaration of conformity where a line is regulated, and material and test certificates where the order calls for them. All of it is prepared before the vessel sails.

Why does your quotation state an HS code against every line?

Because a mismatched classification is what slows clearance in Vietnam. The declaration itself is quick where the description on the invoice, the HS code and the importer’s declaration all agree; delay comes when the importer and the paperwork classify the same fitting differently. We state the classification line by line at quotation, so your broker declares exactly what we ship and the container is not queried at Cai Mep or Hai Phong.

Can you deliver to Da Nang, Dung Quat or Quy Nhon?

Yes. Da Nang takes a direct call on some services and a transhipment on others, so we quote it against the actual sailing rather than assuming one. For the Dung Quat refinery and steel complex in Quang Ngai, or for Quy Nhon, the road leg from Da Nang is usually the better answer than a separate port call. Give us the site and the receiving contact and we price the full route.

Can you deliver to factories in Binh Duong, Dong Nai or Bac Ninh?

Yes, on DAP terms to the factory gate. Binh Duong and Dong Nai are a road leg from Cai Mep–Thi Vai; Bac Ninh and the northern parks are a road leg from Hai Phong. The leg is priced at quotation rather than estimated. Tell us the industrial park, gate-entry rules and receiving hours, and the consignment is packed and labelled so the stores can book it straight in.

We are commissioning a new plant in Vietnam — how do we decide which hose assemblies to hold as spares?

Derive the list from the hydraulic schematic rather than waiting years for failure history. Pick out the assemblies that move with the machine, run near heat, bend on the tightest radius, or stop production when they fail, and hold those. We will do that reading from a drawing or a set of photographs, then crimp, pressure-test and tag each assembly in Dubai, so a repeat order is placed by tag reference.

Our fleet mixes Japanese, Korean and Chinese-built machines — can you match their hose ends?

Yes, by identifying each end from the part rather than the brand of machine. Mixed fleets in Vietnam commonly carry JIS, BSP, metric DIN and SAE or ORFS ends, sometimes on the same machine after earlier repairs. Send photographs and thread and seat measurements, or the failed assembly’s tag, and we confirm the end type at quotation before anything is crimped, so the assembly fits first time.

Can wellhead parts and flow iron for Cuu Long or Nam Con Son campaigns be quoted with our hose order?

Yes. We supply TechnipFMC, Cameron (SLB), SPM, Anson, Stream-Flo and WOM equipment, so wellhead components, valves and flow iron for Cuu Long and Nam Con Son basin campaigns can ship with hydraulic hose on one consignment. API 6A wellhead, API 16A BOP, API 16C choke and kill and API 7K drilling hose are available, with NACE MR0175 material documentation where the contract requires it. Name the supply base and campaign date and we plan the sailing back from it.

Can rigging hardware for a Hai Phong or Vung Tau yard come on the same container as hose?

Yes. Wire rope and chain slings, shackles, hooks and rigging hardware ship from Dubai marked with their working load limit and with the manufacturer’s test certificates the order calls for, on the same container as hydraulic parts. Any document a specific lifting line needs for import we confirm at quotation. Periodic inspection and the site lifting register stay with your yard’s appointed inspector.
