Questions we get asked
About this range
- 01When do I need an extra heavy thimble?
- Where the eye is loaded through a shackle pin or hook that bears hard on it. An extra heavy thimble has a deeper groove and thicker body that resists being crushed or pulled out of shape.
- 02Do the parts come with test certificates?
- Yes. Each consignment ships with the manufacturer's test certificate. If your site needs more — third-party certification or witnessed proof testing — say so on the RFQ and we will confirm what we can arrange.

Delivery
Wire Rope Thimbles across the Gulf
Ex-stock from Dubai, delivered within 3 working days in the UAE.
Rigging hardware is bought on its working load limit and its certificate, and both travel with the part: every shackle, hook, chain and sling ships from Dubai with the manufacturer's test certificate, so the receiving inspection checks a document against a stamp rather than a claim. Hardware and fittings go by air or courier in cartons; wire rope, chain, hoists and anchors are heavy enough that sea freight is usually the sensible answer.

Wire rope thimbles: standard vs extra heavy vs solid, and what the old DIN and BS numbers mean
A thimble keeps a wire rope eye from crushing and wearing where it bears on a shackle or pin. It is not rated to carry load itself — it protects the rope that does. Here is how standard, extra-heavy and solid thimbles differ, and how to match one to the rope and the fitting.

How to install wire rope clips: which way round, how many, and how tight
A wire rope clip termination is only as good as its installation: the saddle on the live end, the right number of clips, the right length of turnback and the right torque, re-checked after the first load. Here are the published tables for US-type and DIN 1142 clips, and the one job clips must never do.
