Angle changes everything
A sling's rating is for a straight vertical pull. As the angle between two legs opens, each leg carries more of the load, so a two-leg sling at 90° between its legs is rated well below twice a single leg — the endless-sling table shows the drop directly. Choose the sling on its rated load for the angle you will actually use.
Wire rope slings
Wire rope slings are commonly made to EN 13414-1, which rates them at a 5:1 design factor. The soft-eye sling tables give the WLL at both 5:1 and 6:1 so you can work to the factor your site specifies.
Questions we get asked
About this range
- 01Are cable socks for lifting?
- No. A cable sock is a pulling grip — it draws cable or hose through a duct or over rollers. Its breaking load is a pulling figure, and it is not rated for suspending a load.
- 02What is the difference between WLL, SWL and breaking load?
- WLL — working load limit — is the most the manufacturer rates a part to carry in service. SWL, safe working load, is the older term and is sometimes set lower for a particular installation. The minimum breaking load is what the part withstood in test, several times its WLL, and it is never a working figure.
- 03Do the parts come with test certificates?
- Yes. Each consignment ships with the manufacturer's test certificate. If your site needs more — third-party certification or witnessed proof testing — say so on the RFQ and we will confirm what we can arrange.

Delivery
Slings across the Gulf
Ex-stock from Dubai, delivered within 3 working days in the UAE.
Rigging hardware is bought on its working load limit and its certificate, and both travel with the part: every shackle, hook, chain and sling ships from Dubai with the manufacturer's test certificate, so the receiving inspection checks a document against a stamp rather than a claim. Hardware and fittings go by air or courier in cartons; wire rope, chain, hoists and anchors are heavy enough that sea freight is usually the sensible answer.

Types of lifting slings: chain, wire rope, webbing and round slings compared
Chain slings survive heat, edges and rough handling. Wire rope slings are strong and stiff. Webbing and round slings are light and gentle on finished surfaces, but cut easily and stop at 100 °C. Here is how the four compare, and how to choose for the load in front of you.

Sling colour code chart: what each colour means, and why the label still decides
Under EN 1492, a violet polyester sling is rated 1 t, green 2 t, yellow 3 t, grey 4 t, red 5 t, brown 6 t, blue 8 t and orange 10 t or more. US round slings follow a different scale, so a green sling can mean 2 t or 5,300 lb depending on where it was made. Here is the chart — and why the label, not the colour, is the rating.

Lifting equipment inspection in the UAE: what Abu Dhabi and Dubai require
In Abu Dhabi, lifting accessories must be thoroughly examined by an approved third party at least every six months and lifting equipment every twelve — it is written into the emirate’s code of practice. Dubai requires annual certification by an EIAC-accredited inspector, and accredited inspectors apply six months to accessories. Here is what each document says.
