Product description

Grade 80 three-leg chain sling made up with an oblong master link assembly at the top and a self-locking hook on each of the three legs. The chain and every fitting are Grade 80 alloy steel, quenched and tempered, and matched in size so that no component is the weak point.

What TOSL means

Chain sling make-ups are named by a letter code read from the top down: T = triple leg; O = oblong master link; SL = self-locking hook. So a TOSL sling is a triple leg sling with an oblong master link assembly at the top and a self-locking hook on each of its three legs.

Sizes and ratings

21 chain sizes, 4 mm to 50 mm. Working load limit 1.05 to 164.8 t with the legs up to 45° from vertical, and 0.75 to 117.7 t between 45° and 60°, at a 4:1 design factor. Each size has its own Indus part number below.

Reading the two WLL columns

The rating of a multi-leg sling depends on how far the legs spread. The table heads its columns by the angle between opposite legs: "up to 90°" means each leg is no more than 45° from vertical, and "90–120°" means each leg is between 45° and 60° from vertical. A chain sling is never used with its legs more than 60° from vertical. The ratings assume the load is shared evenly between the legs.

Choosing this make-up

A self-locking hook closes and locks as the load comes on and opens only when the trigger is pressed with the hook unloaded, which suits lifts where the load could otherwise unhook.

Identification and certificate

Each sling carries a permanent tag with its serial number, chain size, grade, reach and working load limit, and ships with the manufacturer's test certificate. The rating on the tag and certificate is the one that governs the sling in service.

Ordering

Slings are made up to length. Quote the Indus part number for the chain size and the reach you need, measured from the bearing point of the top fitting to the bearing point of the hook, or send the load, the number of lifting points and the headroom and we will size the sling for you.
