BSP Adapters
BSP hydraulic adapters are fittings with British Standard Pipe threads — parallel (BSPP) or taper (BSPT) — used to connect hoses, tubes and components on European- and Asian-built machinery. This shelf carries Indus Hydraulics BSP adapters from Dubai with 60° cone, bonded-seal, O-ring and taper ends: straight connectors, unions, 45° and 90° elbows, tees, crosses, bulkheads, plugs, caps and butt-weld ends, plus BSP adapters to metric, JIC, NPT and JIS gas.
Parallel or taper decides how it seals
BSP comes in two forms. BSPP (parallel) seals on something other than the thread — a 60° cone, a bonded seal or an ED seal against a flat face. BSPT (taper) seals on the thread itself. They share pitch and diameter, so they screw together, but a taper in a parallel port will not seal reliably.
Identify each end — male or female, parallel or taper, and the seal — and the shape (straight, elbow, tee, cross, bulkhead or plug) follows from the routing.
ISO 228-1 and ISO 7-1
Parallel BSP threads follow ISO 228-1 and taper threads ISO 7-1. Ports with parallel threads, and the stud ends that fit them, are covered by ISO 1179.

Delivery
BSP Adapters across the Gulf
Ex-stock from Dubai, delivered within 3 working days in the UAE.
Hose and fittings are the bulk of what leaves this warehouse, and they travel well: a crated batch of assemblies with its crimp records, or a box of adapters on an airway bill. Buyers outside the UAE usually order to a measured list rather than to a part number, because a hose is defined by its ends, its length and its route rather than by a code. Send those and we will quote against them.

Questions we get asked
About this range
- 01Can I use a BSPT fitting in a BSPP port?
- It will engage but it will not seal reliably: a parallel port is sealed by a cone, a bonded seal or an O-ring, not by thread interference. Use a parallel male with the correct seal for the port.
- 02What is a bonded seal?
- A steel washer with a moulded rubber lip — often called a Dowty washer — that seals a parallel thread against a flat face.
- 03What is an ED seal?
- An elastomer seal carried in the stud end of the adapter, which seals against the port face and removes the need for a separate washer.
- 04Why is a 1/2″ BSP thread about 21 mm across?
- Because the nominal size refers to an old pipe bore, not to the thread. A 1/2″ BSP male measures about 20.96 mm over the crests with 14 threads per inch. Other common sizes: 1/8″ is 9.73 mm at 28 TPI, 1/4″ 13.16 mm at 19 TPI, 3/8″ 16.66 mm at 19 TPI, 3/4″ 26.44 mm at 14 TPI and 1″ 33.25 mm at 11 TPI. BSPP and BSPT share these diameters and pitches, so measure the crests with calipers, count the pitch, then check for taper.
- 05What does “60° Seat or Bonded Seal” mean on a BSP male?
- It is a dual-purpose male end: its nose has a 60° cone that seals in a BSP female swivel, and its shoulder has a flat face that seals against a port with a bonded seal. One part therefore covers both a hose-end connection and a flat-faced BSPP port. Use the bonded seal only in the port; in a 60° cone female the seal is metal to metal and no washer is needed.
- 06Should a BSPT thread get tape or sealant?
- Yes — a taper thread seals on its flanks and needs a thread sealant or PTFE tape; a parallel BSPP thread never does. Keep the first one or two threads clear so nothing is carried into the system, and wrap tape in the direction of the thread. Liquid or paste sealants rated for hydraulic oil are cleaner than tape. Sealant on a BSPP thread can stop a bonded seal or O-ring seating and is a common cause of leaks.

BSPP bonded seals and dowty washers: getting the size right
A bonded seal is sized by the thread it sits under, not by the bore of the fitting or the size printed on the box. That one sentence resolves most of the confusion.

Fittings on a used Japanese machine: the 30° seat problem
Two common families share a 30° seat and use different threads underneath it. Checking the angle alone tells you they match, and they do not — here is how to separate them.
