How a double-ferrule fitting seals

As the nut is made up, the back ferrule pushes the front ferrule into the body and grips the tube, while the front ferrule seals against the body and the tube. Make up to the turns the manufacturer specifies and use ferrules from the same system.

Materials

Bodies are forged or machined from 316 stainless bar to ASTM A479 / A276, as the manufacturer states on each listing.

Delivery

Double Ferrule Tube Fittings across the Gulf

Ex-stock from Dubai, delivered within 3 working days in the UAE.

Gauges, transmitters and control items are small, light and calibration-dependent, which makes them the easiest thing here to send by courier and the most important to order against the right range. We ship from Dubai with calibration documentation where the item carries it, and quote against the range and connection you specify rather than the nearest catalogue equivalent.

Questions we get asked

About this range

01Can I buy ferrules separately?
Yes: front ferrules, back ferrules, ferrule sets and nuts are listed as their own parts.
02How many turns do I tighten a double-ferrule fitting from finger-tight?
Follow the make-up instruction for the Indus fitting; for this design it is typically 1-1/4 turns past finger-tight for 1/4″ to 1″ tube and 3/4 turn for 1/16″ to 3/16″ tube. Insert the tube until it bottoms in the body, run the nut up finger-tight, mark the nut at the six o'clock position, then hold the body steady and turn the nut the specified amount. Counting turns from a mark is more reliable than tightening to a torque. Larger sizes may need a different procedure or a preset tool, so check the listing before making up tube above 1″.
03What is a gap inspection gauge used for on double-ferrule fittings?
It checks that a fitting has been tightened enough on its first make-up. After pull-up, the gauge is offered into the gap between the nut and the body hex: if it will not enter, the fitting has been turned far enough; if it slips in, the fitting is under-tightened and needs more turn. It is a check for the initial make-up only. A fitting that has been disconnected and remade sits closer to the body, so the gauge does not apply to remakes.
04Can a double-ferrule fitting be taken apart and made up again?
Yes. Once made up, the ferrules stay on the tube, so the joint can be disconnected and remade. To remake, put the tube and preswaged ferrules back into the body, run the nut up by hand to its previous position, then tighten slightly with a wrench until it is firm; do not repeat the full first make-up turns. Replace the nut and ferrules, and cut back the tube, if the ferrules or tube end are damaged or the joint will not seal.
05What is a positionable elbow or tee with an SAE straight thread?
A fitting that can be turned to face any direction before it is locked, so the tube outlet lines up without forcing the tube. The male end has an SAE straight thread with a locknut, a backup washer and an O-ring. Screw it into the port until the washer meets the port face, back it off to the direction you need, up to one full turn, then hold the body and tighten the locknut. The O-ring, not the thread, makes the seal, so check that the port is an SAE straight-thread O-ring port before fitting it.
06What are the O-seal connectors marked vacuum for?
They connect tube to a threaded port where a thread-sealed joint is not tight enough, such as vacuum and low-pressure gas lines. The male end carries an O-ring that seals against the port, so the joint does not depend on tape or sealant in the threads, which can leak or outgas under vacuum. Choose the O-ring material for the medium and temperature, and check the pressure rating on the listing, which may be lower than that of the standard male connector.
