Product description
A high-flow lay flat hose for moving large volumes of water over distance: open-pit and underground mine dewatering, frac water transfer between ponds and well pads, flood pumping and temporary pipelines in place of steel or HDPE pipe. TPU gives it high abrasion resistance when dragged over rock and gravel, and it resists chemicals, UV and weather on long outdoor runs.
Construction
- Tube and cover: TPU, extruded through the jacket in one pass
- Reinforcement: circular-woven high-tenacity polyester
- Temperature: -50 °C to +80 °C
- Colour: black
Why lay flat for transfer
- Up to 400 m per length means far fewer couplings than pipe
- Deploys from a reel or hose truck and recovers flat for the next site
- Smooth bore keeps friction loss low over long runs
- Light: 6.2 kg/m at 16" bore
Pressure and sizes
21 bar from 1-1/2" to 2-1/2", 17 bar at 3" and 4", 14 to 15 bar from 6" to 14", and 10 bar at 16"; burst is three times working pressure. Allow for surge when pumps start and stop on a long line. The Sizes & Part Numbers tab lists all 11 sizes; bores up to 24" are made to order.
Installation and care
- Unroll the hose fully and lay it out straight before pressurising; a hose pressurised on the reel or with twists can kink and burst.
- Run it along the shortest practical route, away from sharp edges and hot surfaces, and protect it with hose ramps where vehicles cross.
- Raise and lower pressure gradually. Closing a valve suddenly on a long line causes a surge that can exceed the working pressure.
- Stay within the working pressure of the size in use; burst pressure is a test figure, never an operating limit.
- After use, drain the hose, flush it if it carried slurry, fuel or concrete, and roll it flat from the far end to push out what is left.
- Store coils out of direct sunlight and away from sharp objects, and inspect the cover and coupling bands before each deployment.
How to order
Quote the Indus part number, or send the bore, the length you need, the fluid and the end connections. We supply bulk coils or made-up assemblies with couplings fitted and banded. Price and lead time are confirmed with the quotation.

I.D. (mm) — Inside diameter in millimetres with its tolerance, as published. Wall (mm) — Wall thickness in millimetres, as published — a single figure or a band. Min burst — Minimum burst pressure. A test figure, never a working limit — never select on it. Weight — Weight of the hose per metre, as published. Tensile strength — Axial tensile strength of the hose, as published — what a lay-flat line can carry hanging in a well or dragged behind a tractor.
Working pressure is the published rating for the hose itself. A made-up assembly is limited by its lowest-rated part, so check it against the coupling, the clamp or ferrule, and the temperature you are running at.

Why lay flat hose fails: bursts, kinks, abrasion and how to prevent them
Lay flat hose rarely fails because it was too weak on paper. It fails at a kink, along a worn fold, at a coupling that crept, after a pressure surge, or because it was used on a pump suction. Here are the eight common failure modes, how to read the evidence on a failed hose, and the handling and inspection habits that prevent them.

Construction dewatering hose in the GCC: wellpoints, deep wells and the discharge line
Across much of the Gulf coast the water table sits a metre or two below the surface, and in Doha, Jeddah and Kuwait City it has been rising. Almost every basement, tunnel and utility trench has to be dewatered. How the hose system is put together — wellpoint connections, suction, header and lay flat discharge to a settlement tank — and how to size and specify each part.

Dewatering discharge permits in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Qatar: what the hose and pump plan must show
Pumping groundwater out of an excavation is regulated in every Gulf city, and the permit is built around the equipment: how many dewatering points, how many pumps and of what capacity, what diameter of discharge line, and what settlement tank. A plain guide to the Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Qatar regimes, and how to put together a hose and pump plan that gets through.
