Product description
A flexible riser main for submersible pumps in boreholes and deep wells. The hose replaces rigid steel or uPVC drop pipe: it is lowered straight off a reel, carries the pump and the water column on its own tensile strength, and comes out again the same way for pump service. TPU does not corrode or scale, so it suits acidic or aggressive groundwater where steel column pipe pits and blocks.
Construction
- Tube and cover: TPU, extruded through the jacket in one pass, so the layers cannot separate
- Reinforcement: circular-woven high-tenacity polyester
- Temperature: -50 °C to +80 °C
- Colour: blue
Why lay flat in a well
- One continuous length up to 400 m — no threaded joints to leak or loosen
- Tensile strength up to 60,900 kg holds the pump and the full water column
- Smooth TPU bore resists scaling and debris build-up
- Installed and recovered with a hose reel or winding unit rather than a pipe-handling rig
Pressure and sizes
Working pressure runs from 40 bar at 1-1/4" to 18 bar at 10", with burst at 2.1 to 2.5 times working pressure. Size the hose on the pump's shut-off head plus any surge, not on duty head. The Sizes & Part Numbers tab lists bore, wall, weight, pressure and tensile strength for each of the 10 sizes.
Fittings
Riser hose is joined to the pump and the well head with dedicated stainless couplings that clamp onto the hose and carry the tensile load. We supply the couplings matched to the bore.
Installation and care
- Unroll the hose fully and lay it out straight before pressurising; a hose pressurised on the reel or with twists can kink and burst.
- Run it along the shortest practical route, away from sharp edges and hot surfaces, and protect it with hose ramps where vehicles cross.
- Raise and lower pressure gradually. Closing a valve suddenly on a long line causes a surge that can exceed the working pressure.
- Stay within the working pressure of the size in use; burst pressure is a test figure, never an operating limit.
- After use, drain the hose, flush it if it carried slurry, fuel or concrete, and roll it flat from the far end to push out what is left.
- Store coils out of direct sunlight and away from sharp objects, and inspect the cover and coupling bands before each deployment.
How to order
Quote the Indus part number, or send the bore, the length you need, the fluid and the end connections. We supply bulk coils or made-up assemblies with couplings fitted and banded. Price and lead time are confirmed with the quotation.

I.D. (mm) — Inside diameter in millimetres with its tolerance, as published. Wall (mm) — Wall thickness in millimetres, as published — a single figure or a band. Min burst — Minimum burst pressure. A test figure, never a working limit — never select on it. Weight — Weight of the hose per metre, as published. Tensile strength — Axial tensile strength of the hose, as published — what a lay-flat line can carry hanging in a well or dragged behind a tractor.
Working pressure is the published rating for the hose itself. A made-up assembly is limited by its lowest-rated part, so check it against the coupling, the clamp or ferrule, and the temperature you are running at.

Flexible borehole riser hose vs steel column pipe: the case for lay flat rising mains
A submersible pump hangs on its rising main. Steel column pipe is strong but heavy, slow to install and prone to corrosion in saline Gulf groundwater; uPVC is light but limited. A flexible lay flat riser goes down in one length off a reel and comes out the same way. How they compare, how to size a riser for pressure and load, and how to install one.

How to install flexible well riser hose: a step-by-step guide for borehole pumps
A flexible riser goes into a borehole in one length, with the pump and cable, off a reel. Done well, a two- or three-person crew installs a pump in a fraction of the time steel column pipe takes; done badly, the hose kinks, the cable chafes or the pump ends up at the bottom of the well. What to check before you start, how to fit the couplings, strap the cable, lower the string and commission it — and how to get it back out.

Lay flat hose pressure ratings explained: working, burst and why bigger bores rate lower
A lay flat hose has a working pressure and a burst pressure, and only one of them is a limit. The working pressure also falls as the bore grows — our TPU dewatering hose is 21 bar at 1-1/2" and 10 bar at 16". Here is what the numbers mean, why they change with size, and how to check a line against them, including surge and couplings.
