EPDM/PE Suction Hose with Rigid Helix

EPDM/PE suction and discharge hose with a rigid polyethylene helix, for the intake side of pumps feeding lay flat lines: 1" to 6", vacuum rated to 0.95 bar. Supplied in cut lengths up to 30 m or with camlock or threaded ends fitted, from Indus Hydraulics in the UAE.
Key features
- Application Family: suction and discharge
- Inner Diameter Range: 1" to 6"
- Max Working Pressure: 1.4 to 3.0 bar at 40 °C by size
- Application Family
- suction and discharge
Product description
The suction side of a lay flat system. Lay flat hose collapses under vacuum, so pumps draw through a hose with a rigid helix and discharge into lay flat. This EPDM/PE hose has a rigid polyethylene helix that holds it open at up to 0.95 bar vacuum, while staying light and flexible enough to handle by hand.
Construction
- Hose wall: EPDM/PE compound, resistant to chemicals, abrasion and weather
- Reinforcement: rigid polyethylene helix
- Cold-resistant compound, stays flexible at low temperature
- Colour: green with black helix
Applications
- Vacuum and dewatering pump intakes
- Frac fluid removal
- Marine bilge discharge
- Liquid fertiliser and manure handling
- Irrigation pump suction
Ratings and sizes
Working pressure at 40 °C from 3.0 bar at 1" to 1.4 bar at 6"; vacuum at 40 °C 0.95 bar up to 2", 0.88 bar at 3" and 4", 0.81 bar at 6". The Sizes & Part Numbers tab lists bore, O.D., wall, weight and bend radius for all 7 sizes. Standard lengths up to 30 m.
Installation and care
- Keep the suction line short and straight, and never bend it tighter than the minimum bend radius in the size table.
- Fit a strainer or foot valve on the inlet sized to the pump's solids handling, so debris cannot block the hose or damage the pump.
- Make every joint airtight: a small air leak on the suction side starves the pump and can make it lose prime.
- Stay within the vacuum and working pressure listed at 40 °C; ratings fall as temperature rises.
- Drain after use, flush it if it carried slurry or chemicals, and store it out of direct sunlight.
How to order
Quote the Indus part number, or send the bore, the length you need, the fluid and the end connections. We supply bulk coils or made-up assemblies with couplings fitted and banded. Price and lead time are confirmed with the quotation.

I.D. (mm) — Inside diameter in millimetres with its tolerance, as published. Wall (mm) — Wall thickness in millimetres, as published — a single figure or a band. O.D. — Outside diameter of the hose, which is what a clamp or a ferrule has to close on. Vacuum — Vacuum the hose is rated to hold on suction duty, as published. Min bend radius — Tightest centreline radius the hose may be bent to at full working pressure. Weight — Weight of the hose per metre, as published.
Working pressure is the published rating for the hose itself. A made-up assembly is limited by its lowest-rated part, so check it against the coupling, the clamp or ferrule, and the temperature you are running at.

Suction hose vs lay flat hose: why a pump needs both, and which goes where
Lay flat hose cannot be used on a pump’s suction side: under vacuum, atmospheric pressure flattens it and seals the inlet. Every lay flat system needs a rigid-helix suction hose on the inlet and lay flat on the discharge. This guide explains why, how much suction lift is realistic, and how to lay out the two sides of a dewatering or transfer pump.

Antistatic fuel transfer hose: earthing, bonding and lay flat for diesel lines
Diesel flowing through a hose generates static charge. If the hose or a coupling is electrically isolated, that charge can build until it sparks. How bonded (M) and conductive (Ω) hoses differ, how to earth a temporary fuel line, and where an antistatic lay flat hose fits at drilling camps, rigs and remote sites.

Construction dewatering hose in the GCC: wellpoints, deep wells and the discharge line
Across much of the Gulf coast the water table sits a metre or two below the surface, and in Doha, Jeddah and Kuwait City it has been rising. Almost every basement, tunnel and utility trench has to be dewatered. How the hose system is put together — wellpoint connections, suction, header and lay flat discharge to a settlement tank — and how to size and specify each part.
