Product description
A lay flat hose for carrying drinking water: temporary supply to camps, events and construction sites, bypass lines while a water main is repaired or rehabilitated, and emergency relief after floods and pipe bursts. The tube is made from non-toxic material for potable water, and the hose resists UV, ozone and weather when laid above ground.
Construction
- Tube and cover: TPU, extruded through the jacket in one pass
- Reinforcement: circular-woven high-tenacity polyester
- Temperature: -50 °C to +80 °C
- Colour: blue
Drinking-water approval
The manufacturer lists NSF/ANSI 61 certification for this hose. Ask for the certificate with your quotation, and flush and disinfect the line to your water authority's procedure before it goes into service.
Pressure and sizes
21 bar from 1-1/2" to 2-1/2", 17 bar at 3" and 4", 14 to 15 bar from 6" to 14" and 10 bar at 16", with burst at three times working pressure. The Sizes & Part Numbers tab lists all 11 sizes; bores up to 24" are made to order.
Installation and care
- Unroll the hose fully and lay it out straight before pressurising; a hose pressurised on the reel or with twists can kink and burst.
- Run it along the shortest practical route, away from sharp edges and hot surfaces, and protect it with hose ramps where vehicles cross.
- Raise and lower pressure gradually. Closing a valve suddenly on a long line causes a surge that can exceed the working pressure.
- Stay within the working pressure of the size in use; burst pressure is a test figure, never an operating limit.
- After use, drain the hose, flush it if it carried slurry, fuel or concrete, and roll it flat from the far end to push out what is left.
- Store coils out of direct sunlight and away from sharp objects, and inspect the cover and coupling bands before each deployment.
How to order
Quote the Indus part number, or send the bore, the length you need, the fluid and the end connections. We supply bulk coils or made-up assemblies with couplings fitted and banded. Price and lead time are confirmed with the quotation.

I.D. (mm) — Inside diameter in millimetres with its tolerance, as published. Wall (mm) — Wall thickness in millimetres, as published — a single figure or a band. Min burst — Minimum burst pressure. A test figure, never a working limit — never select on it. Weight — Weight of the hose per metre, as published. Tensile strength — Axial tensile strength of the hose, as published — what a lay-flat line can carry hanging in a well or dragged behind a tractor.
Working pressure is the published rating for the hose itself. A made-up assembly is limited by its lowest-rated part, so check it against the coupling, the clamp or ferrule, and the temperature you are running at.

Drinking-water hose and NSF/ANSI 61: what the certification means and how to check it
“NSF 61 certified” is the line buyers look for on drinking-water hose — but what does it actually cover, what does it not, and how do you check that the hose in front of you is the one that was certified? A plain guide to NSF/ANSI/CAN 61, its lead-content partner NSF 372, how to read a listing, and how it compares with UK WRAS and Regulation 31 and the European 4MS approach.

Over-pumping and water main bypass: lay flat hose for sewer and mains work
When a sewer is relined or a water main is repaired, the flow has to go somewhere else. Over-pumping moves sewage around the work; a temporary overland main keeps customers in drinking water. Both are often laid in lay flat hose. How each is planned, what UK hygiene rules require for temporary drinking-water mains, and why the two kinds of hose must never meet.

Lay flat hose size chart: inch, DN, inside diameter, flat width, weight and pressure
Lay flat hose is sold by nominal inch size, specified by DN, measured by inside diameter and recognised on the shelf by its flat width — and none of those numbers is quite the same. A single chart that lines them up for 1-1/2" to 16" hose, with weight per metre and working pressure, and how to measure a hose you already have.
