Product description
The R1 1SN Single Wire Braid Hydraulic Hose Single-wire braid medium-pressure hydraulic hose for general industrial and mobile hydraulics. Conforms to SAE 100R1AT / EN 853 1SN.
Construction
- Tube: Synthetic rubber (NBR), oil-resistant
- Reinforcement: One layer of high-tensile steel wire braid
- Cover: Synthetic rubber, abrasion- and weather-resistant, MSHA-accepted, wrapped
Performance
Working pressures up to 225 bar at -04, falling to 40 bar at -32, with a minimum burst of 900 bar (safety factor 4:1). Continuous service from -40°C to 100°C, with the upper limit reduced for aggressive fluids — ask for a fluid compatibility chart if needed.
Applications
- General-purpose hydraulics on machine tools and power units
- Mobile equipment — agricultural, light construction, materials handling
- Hydraulic return-line and pilot-line service
Compliance
- SAE 100R1AT
- EN 853 1SN
- MSHA-accepted cover

Hose dash sizes: −04 to −48, and the one grade where the number means something else
A dash size is sixteenths of an inch of bore. Except on SAE 100R5, where −08 is a 10 mm bore rather than 12 mm — because R5 is sized on tube outside diameter. Here is the full conversion, and where it breaks.

SAE 100R types: the numbers are a catalogue, not a ranking
R6 is rated 28 bar. R2AT is rated 400 bar. The higher number is fourteen times weaker. Here is what each SAE 100R designation actually specifies, and why the sequence tells you nothing about strength.

EN 853, 856 and 857 against SAE 100R: what actually cross-references
Two of these pairings are real and printed on the same hose. Several of the equivalences circulating in the trade are not. Here is which is which, and what to do about the grades that have no counterpart.
