Protect the sling, rate it for the hitch
Synthetic slings are light and grip a load without marking it, but they cut on sharp edges — use edge protection wherever the sling bends over a corner. The WLL marked on the sling is for a straight vertical lift; a choker hitch reduces it and a basket hitch increases it, depending on the angle. Inspect the label and the cover before every use and retire a sling with cuts, burns or a missing label.
Colour code and design factor
Under EN 1492 the colour of a polyester sling marks its rated capacity: violet 1 t, green 2 t, yellow 3 t, grey 4 t, red 5 t, brown 6 t, blue 8 t and orange 10 t and above. Textile slings are rated with a 7:1 design factor.
Questions we get asked
About this range
- 01Round sling or webbing sling?
- A round sling has a continuous core of load-bearing yarn inside a protective cover, so it is flexible and moulds to the load. A flat webbing sling spreads the load over a wider bearing surface and sits flat under the load. Both are rated the same way; choose on how the load is shaped and handled.
- 02What is the difference between WLL, SWL and breaking load?
- WLL — working load limit — is the most the manufacturer rates a part to carry in service. SWL, safe working load, is the older term and is sometimes set lower for a particular installation. The minimum breaking load is what the part withstood in test, several times its WLL, and it is never a working figure.
- 03Do the parts come with test certificates?
- Yes. Each consignment ships with the manufacturer's test certificate. If your site needs more — third-party certification or witnessed proof testing — say so on the RFQ and we will confirm what we can arrange.

Delivery
Synthetic Slings across the Gulf
Ex-stock from Dubai, delivered within 3 working days in the UAE.
Rigging hardware is bought on its working load limit and its certificate, and both travel with the part: every shackle, hook, chain and sling ships from Dubai with the manufacturer's test certificate, so the receiving inspection checks a document against a stamp rather than a claim. Hardware and fittings go by air or courier in cartons; wire rope, chain, hoists and anchors are heavy enough that sea freight is usually the sensible answer.

Sling colour code chart: what each colour means, and why the label still decides
Under EN 1492, a violet polyester sling is rated 1 t, green 2 t, yellow 3 t, grey 4 t, red 5 t, brown 6 t, blue 8 t and orange 10 t or more. US round slings follow a different scale, so a green sling can mean 2 t or 5,300 lb depending on where it was made. Here is the chart — and why the label, not the colour, is the rating.

Sling angle chart: how the angle changes the load in each leg
Two sling legs do not each carry half the load unless they hang straight down. At 45° from vertical each leg carries 71% of the load; at 60° each carries all of it. Here is the chart, the one-line formula behind it, and how rating tables for multi-leg slings build it in.
