Product description
Grade 100 clevis grab hook with a cradle under the chain link and a twist-lock latch that turns across the throat to keep the chain in the hook.
Sizes and ratings
4 sizes, 1/4–5/16″ to 5/8″. Working load limit 5,700 to 22,600 lbs. Every size has its own Indus part number in the table below, with the loads in the unit the manufacturer rates them in.
Choosing a size
The cradle supports the link so the leg keeps its rating when shortened, and the twist lock stops the chain dropping out when the leg goes slack. Size the hook to the chain.
Ordering
Quote the Indus part number from the size table, or send the size and working load you need. Each consignment ships with the manufacturer's test certificate; say on the RFQ if your site needs anything more.

Size — Nominal size as the manufacturer states it. WLL — Working load limit — the most the part may carry in service, as the manufacturer rates it. Weight — Weight as the manufacturer publishes it. Ask us for the dimension drawing if you need it stamped.
WLL is the most the part may carry in service. Proof and breaking loads are test figures — never lift to them. Each load is shown in the unit the manufacturer rates the part in, and a size ships with the manufacturer’s test certificate.

Shortening a chain sling: clutches, cradle grab hooks and the 20% rule
Uneven loads and off-centre lifting points need legs of different lengths, and a chain sling with shorteners adjusts on the spot. But not every grab hook carries the full chain rating when it shortens a leg. Shortening clutches, cradle and conventional grab hooks, when a maker requires a 20% reduction, and what must never be used instead.

Chain sling codes explained: SOS, DOS, TOS, QOS and the hook letters
A chain sling code such as DOSL or QOG describes the whole assembly: how many legs, what is at the top and what is on the end. How to read the codes, which hook does what, and why a four-leg sling is rated the same as a three-leg one.
