Product description
Grade 100 clevis grab hook with a latch across the throat. The clevis pins straight onto the chain, and the latch keeps the chain link seated in the hook when the leg goes slack.
Sizes and ratings
5 sizes, 7 mm (9/32″) to 16 mm (5/8″). Working load limit 4,300 to 22,600 lbs. Every size has its own Indus part number in the table below, with the loads in the unit the manufacturer rates them in. The lettered dimensions refer to the dimension drawing in the gallery.
Choosing a size
Used to shorten a sling leg or to hook the chain back on itself where the hook could shake loose without a latch. Each row is the hook for one Grade 100 chain size and carries that chain's working load limit.
Ordering
Quote the Indus part number from the size table, or send the size and working load you need. Each consignment ships with the manufacturer's test certificate; say on the RFQ if your site needs anything more.

Shortening a chain sling: clutches, cradle grab hooks and the 20% rule
Uneven loads and off-centre lifting points need legs of different lengths, and a chain sling with shorteners adjusts on the spot. But not every grab hook carries the full chain rating when it shortens a leg. Shortening clutches, cradle and conventional grab hooks, when a maker requires a 20% reduction, and what must never be used instead.

Chain sling codes explained: SOS, DOS, TOS, QOS and the hook letters
A chain sling code such as DOSL or QOG describes the whole assembly: how many legs, what is at the top and what is on the end. How to read the codes, which hook does what, and why a four-leg sling is rated the same as a three-leg one.
