Expansion Ring Fire Hose Coupling, 1" to 2-1/2"

Expansion ring couplings for 1" to 2-1/2" fire and lay flat hose with NST, NPSH or BAT threads: the hose is fixed by a ring expanded inside the bore. Anodised aluminium, stainless, brass or PP, each leak-tested. Supplied loose or fitted to lay flat hose assemblies by Indus Hydraulics in the UAE.
Product description
A threaded fire hose coupling attached by expanding a metal ring inside the hose bore, which locks the hose jacket against the coupling bowl. Expansion ring couplings are the common way to couple jacketed fire hose and small lay flat hose with US-pattern threads.
Construction
- Threads: NST (National Standard Thread), NPSH, BAT
- Materials: anodised aluminium, stainless steel, brass or PP
- Attachment: brass expansion ring, expanded with a hose expander
- Testing: every coupling leak-tested
- Sizes: DN25 to DN65 (1" to 2-1/2")
Approvals
The manufacturer lists FM approval for this coupling. Ask for the certificate for the size and material you order; we confirm it with the quotation.
Fitting large-bore lay flat couplings
- Cut the hose square and push it fully onto the shank before closing the clamp halves.
- Tighten the clamp bolts evenly, side to side, to the torque given for the size; re-check after the first pressurisation.
- Match the coupling to the hose: lay flat wall thickness varies by class, and a clamp sized for one wall will not hold another.
- Check the working pressure of both the hose and the coupling — the line is limited by the lower of the two.
- Inspect shanks, clamps and seals for damage before each deployment, and keep seals clean of grit.
How to order
Send the hose bore and type, the mating connection at the other end (Storz size, grooved pipe OD, flange standard and rating, or the mating half) and the working pressure. We supply couplings loose or fitted to the hose as assemblies. Price and lead time are confirmed with the quotation.

Snowmaking hose: what it must survive between the hydrant and the snow gun
Snowmaking puts water at high pressure through hose lying on snow at well below freezing, moved from hydrant to hydrant by crews in the dark. Ordinary hose stiffens, kinks and freezes. What a snowmaking hose must do, how much water a resort moves, how to choose and connect hose for fan guns and lances, and how to stop lines freezing.

Forestry fire hose: sizes, construction and the progressive hose lay
2025 was the EU’s worst wildfire season on record: more than a million hectares burnt. Wildland crews fight those fires on foot, with light hose carried in packs and laid up hillsides from portable pumps. What makes forestry hose different from structural fire hose, the 1" and 1-1/2" sizes and threads used in wildland work, how a progressive hose lay works, and how to choose between EPDM-lined and coated hose.
