Product description
Grade 80 four-leg chain sling made up with an oblong master link assembly at the top and a sling hook with safety latch on each of the four legs. The chain and every fitting are Grade 80 alloy steel, quenched and tempered, and matched in size so that no component is the weak point.
What QOS means
Chain sling make-ups are named by a letter code read from the top down: Q = quad leg; O = oblong master link; S = sling hook with safety latch. So a QOS sling is a quad leg sling with an oblong master link assembly at the top and a sling hook with safety latch on each of its four legs.
Sizes and ratings
21 chain sizes, 4 mm to 50 mm. Working load limit 1.05 to 164.8 t with the legs up to 45° from vertical, and 0.75 to 117.7 t between 45° and 60°, at a 4:1 design factor. Each size has its own Indus part number below.
Reading the two WLL columns
The rating of a multi-leg sling depends on how far the legs spread. The table heads its columns by the angle between opposite legs: "up to 90°" means each leg is no more than 45° from vertical, and "90–120°" means each leg is between 45° and 60° from vertical. A chain sling is never used with its legs more than 60° from vertical. The ratings assume the load is shared evenly between the legs. A four-leg sling carries the same rating as a three-leg sling, because a rigid load seldom sits evenly on four legs.
Choosing this make-up
A sling hook is the general-purpose end fitting: the spring latch closes the throat so the hook cannot slip off a slack lifting point.
Identification and certificate
Each sling carries a permanent tag with its serial number, chain size, grade, reach and working load limit, and ships with the manufacturer's test certificate. The rating on the tag and certificate is the one that governs the sling in service.
Ordering
Slings are made up to length. Quote the Indus part number for the chain size and the reach you need, measured from the bearing point of the top fitting to the bearing point of the hook, or send the load, the number of lifting points and the headroom and we will size the sling for you.

Size — Nominal size as the manufacturer states it. WLL, up to 90° — Working load limit — the most the part may carry in service, as the manufacturer rates it. WLL, 90–120° — Working load limit — the most the part may carry in service, as the manufacturer rates it. Ask us for the dimension drawing if you need it stamped.
WLL is the most the part may carry in service. Proof and breaking loads are test figures — never lift to them. Each load is shown in the unit the manufacturer rates the part in, and a size ships with the manufacturer’s test certificate.

Precast panel and beam rigging: slings, clutches and multi-leg rules above the anchor
A precast element is lifted on anchors cast into it, but the anchors are only half the system. The clutches, chain slings, master link and spreader above them decide whether the load is shared as designed. How to rig precast panels and beams, why a four-leg sling rarely shares a rigid load evenly, and what regulators’ codes say about anchors, clutches and rigging diagrams.

Tower crane rigging gear: what a crane crew uses every day, and how to keep it in service
A tower crane on a Gulf high-rise may make a hundred lifts a day — rebar, formwork, blockwork, MEP, steel. Its rigging crew works through heat, dust and wind with a small set of gear used over and over. What that kit is, how each item is chosen and checked, how wind and tag lines are managed, and who is allowed to rig in the UAE.

Chain sling codes explained: SOS, DOS, TOS, QOS and the hook letters
A chain sling code such as DOSL or QOG describes the whole assembly: how many legs, what is at the top and what is on the end. How to read the codes, which hook does what, and why a four-leg sling is rated the same as a three-leg one.
