Product description
Wide, flat-lipped hook for lifting stacks of sheet metal, plate and boards on a chain sling. The broad lip spreads the load along the edge of the stack.
Sizes and ratings
6 sizes, 8 mm (5/16″) to 22 mm (7/8″). Working load limit 5,700 to 42,700 lbs. Every size has its own Indus part number in the table below, with the loads in the unit the manufacturer rates them in. The lettered dimensions refer to the dimension drawing in the gallery.
Choosing a size
Plate hooks work in sets on a two-, three- or four-leg sling, never singly, with the legs spread so each hook bears on the stack. Each row is the hook for one Grade 100 chain size.
Ordering
Quote the Indus part number from the size table, or send the size and working load you need. Each consignment ships with the manufacturer's test certificate; say on the RFQ if your site needs anything more.

Shortening a chain sling: clutches, cradle grab hooks and the 20% rule
Uneven loads and off-centre lifting points need legs of different lengths, and a chain sling with shorteners adjusts on the spot. But not every grab hook carries the full chain rating when it shortens a leg. Shortening clutches, cradle and conventional grab hooks, when a maker requires a 20% reduction, and what must never be used instead.

Chain sling codes explained: SOS, DOS, TOS, QOS and the hook letters
A chain sling code such as DOSL or QOG describes the whole assembly: how many legs, what is at the top and what is on the end. How to read the codes, which hook does what, and why a four-leg sling is rated the same as a three-leg one.
