Product description
Steel wire rope for cranes, winches, slings and guying. Steel wire.
Sizes and ratings
10 sizes, 1.58 mm to 5.40 mm. Minimum breaking load 1.57 to 17.5 kN. Every size has its own Indus part number in the table below, with the loads in the unit the manufacturer rates them in.
Choosing a size
Choose on construction, core and grade: more wires per strand bend more easily over a sheave, a steel core resists crushing, and a higher grade carries more for the same diameter. Work from the minimum breaking load and your design factor.
Ordering
Quote the Indus part number from the size table, or send the size and working load you need. Each consignment ships with the manufacturer's test certificate; say on the RFQ if your site needs anything more.

Size — Nominal size as the manufacturer states it. Wire grade — Nominal tensile strength of the wire. MBL, fibre core — Minimum breaking load of the rope with a fibre core. MBL, steel core — Minimum breaking load of the rope with a steel (IWRC) core. Wire dia. — Diameter of the individual wire. Weight, fibre core — Weight per 100 m with a fibre core. Weight, steel core — Weight per 100 m with a steel (IWRC) core. Ask us for the dimension drawing if you need it stamped.
WLL is the most the part may carry in service. Proof and breaking loads are test figures — never lift to them. Each load is shown in the unit the manufacturer rates the part in, and a size ships with the manufacturer’s test certificate.
This range is published with a breaking load only, not a working load limit. Tell us the duty before using it to lift, and we will confirm a rating or recommend a rated part.
