Product description
Grade 100 four-leg chain sling made up with an oblong master link assembly at the top and an oblong link at the end of each of the four legs. The chain and every fitting are Grade 100 alloy steel, quenched and tempered, and matched in size so that no component is the weak point.
What QOO means
Chain sling make-ups are named by a letter code read from the top down: Q = quad leg; O = oblong master link; O = oblong link. So a QOO sling is a quad leg sling with an oblong master link assembly at the top and an oblong link at the end of each of its four legs.
Sizes and ratings
11 chain sizes, 6 mm to 26 mm. Working load limit 3 to 56 t with the legs up to 45° from vertical, and 2.12 to 40 t between 45° and 60°, at a 4:1 design factor. Each size has its own Indus part number below.
Reading the two WLL columns
The rating of a multi-leg sling depends on how far the legs spread. The table heads its columns by the angle between opposite legs: "up to 90°" means each leg is no more than 45° from vertical, and "90–120°" means each leg is between 45° and 60° from vertical. A chain sling is never used with its legs more than 60° from vertical. The ratings assume the load is shared evenly between the legs. A four-leg sling carries the same rating as a three-leg sling, because a rigid load seldom sits evenly on four legs.
Grade 100 against Grade 80
Grade 100 chain carries about 25% more than Grade 80 chain of the same diameter, so a given load can often be lifted on a sling one chain size smaller and lighter. The table gives the standard Grade 100 ratings, worked on the same method as EN 818-4. Chain above 26 mm is made to order and its rating is confirmed on the quotation.
Choosing this make-up
A plain oblong link at the working end is for shackling to a lifting lug or for coupling to another fitting on site.
Identification and certificate
Each sling carries a permanent tag with its serial number, chain size, grade, reach and working load limit, and ships with the manufacturer's test certificate. The rating on the tag and certificate is the one that governs the sling in service.
Ordering
Slings are made up to length. Quote the Indus part number for the chain size and the reach you need, measured from the bearing point of the top fitting to the bearing point of the bottom link, or send the load, the number of lifting points and the headroom and we will size the sling for you.

Size — Nominal size as the manufacturer states it. WLL, up to 90° — Working load limit — the most the part may carry in service, as the manufacturer rates it. WLL, 90–120° — Working load limit — the most the part may carry in service, as the manufacturer rates it. Ask us for the dimension drawing if you need it stamped.
WLL is the most the part may carry in service. Proof and breaking loads are test figures — never lift to them. Each load is shown in the unit the manufacturer rates the part in, and a size ships with the manufacturer’s test certificate.

Grade 80 vs Grade 100 chain slings: capacity, weight, heat and mixing components
Grade 100 chain carries about a quarter more than Grade 80 at the same size and weighs the same per metre — so for the same load it is a size smaller and much lighter. But Grade 80 tolerates more heat, and a sling with one Grade 80 part is a Grade 80 sling. How to choose between them, with our tables side by side.

Precast panel and beam rigging: slings, clutches and multi-leg rules above the anchor
A precast element is lifted on anchors cast into it, but the anchors are only half the system. The clutches, chain slings, master link and spreader above them decide whether the load is shared as designed. How to rig precast panels and beams, why a four-leg sling rarely shares a rigid load evenly, and what regulators’ codes say about anchors, clutches and rigging diagrams.
